lets do the time warp baby ((Future-Verse))

After a full week of classes, April felt drained and accomplished. Things were getting more intense with final papers and preparations for the end of her first year.

It felt good to enter her bed, cuddle into the blankets and fall asleep. Unfortunately, it seemed that her voices were not going to let her sleep easily tonight.

The vision came on stronger than any other she ever had. In the haunting whispers of the vision, April could see all seven faces of the Big Bads that were threatening Rome. And because of her knowledge of the TV shows, April woke up feeling worried.

She had to tell someone. And as she grabbed her phone, April felt strange and was surrounded by a sickly green light. This was bad... she knew it. And she felt being pulled into the light... then falling... falling... falling.

Until she hit the bed again. April gasped out loud. Not sure if that had been part of the dream or not. She didn't even notice that the bed in which she lay was bigger. Or that there was more space in the bedroom either.

Trying her phone again, all April received was static. It was like the phone wasn't working. And she set it down, and glanced around her surroundings. Noticing the bigger bed, and bedroom, April clutched the sheets to her in concern.

"Where am I?"

She can't imagine how hard that must have been for Clark. Knowing that someday the switch would happen, but not when. And it must of felt similar to not knowing when that 'life-owed' would be taken by Jor-El. And so she hugs him tighter.

"If something happened, you would know enough to worry more."

"Only if it happened while you were there." He shakes his head. "She'll be fine." He's matured a lot over the past six years, no longer as rash and impulsive, otherwise he would've run off by now to find a way to fix this. At least this way he's confident that it will be fixed, and he'll have his wife and child back.

"Why don't I change into something a little less colorful?" he suggests.

That must be one of the major differences for Clark, this April is still going to worry. She is not as calm or collected as her future self. She still carries a lot of the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Reaching up to touch the S on his chest, April smiles. "Sounds like a good idea."

He smiles back. "It'll only take a second," he says, and then whoosh, he goes from Superman to ordinary Clark Kent in the blink of an eye, swapping out his colorful cape and costume for casual slacks and a T-shirt. And, of course, his glasses. He's clearly done that a lot, since even his hair has gone from the classic style to a slightly messier one, similar to how he wore it where April came from.

For April, the most amazing thing is how different the two personas are. Even though she knows that it is the same person. And she stares, slightly stunned for a moment.

"Wow. You have gotten so good at that."

"Practice makes perfect," he says, and even his voice seems slightly different. The smile's the same, though, and he leads her into the living room to sit down. "You should see me at my day job. It's almost embarrassing."

"Don't tempt me to ask about tours." April replies. Because a part of her wants to know about if he is working at the Daily Planet. Or if he has the JLA formed. Or a thousand more things.

She knows that even for a visionary, knowing the future can lead to complicated situations. Just look at all the stress knowing about Jonathan's death had caused her.

"I'd love to show you around, but it's too risky," he says, apologetically. "Everyone would expect you to be older. And pregnant. But you can ask me things, and I'll answer if I can."

"The tour of our hometown will have to wait then." That sounded strange. "I assume its Metropolis?"

"Close to it," he confirms. "Not in the city proper, but close enough to 'commute' to work. Supposedly driving a few hours from Smallville every day just looked out of place."

"Do we still check on the farm?" It was an important place for April. For Clark.

"In a way," he says, smiling. "I shouldn't tell you who's living there right now because you haven't met them yet, but it's occupied. By family."

She gives him a soft push. "Tease." Because that comment does make her curious.

Clark knows that she comes from a time where he doesn't know about any of his living blood relatives, nor does Connor exist yet, so he's wary about telling her before it's time. Especially with how Connor came to join the family. "Sorry." He's not quite apologetic.

"You can wipe that invisible smirk from your face, buster." April still has a happy gleam in her eye. She is happy that they still have a comfortable mental reportoire.

She wonders about questions she could ask. As curious as April is about their engagement, their wedding, and how he took the news about being a father, she sort of wants to be surprised by those events.

"Have you been able to find more heros?" She figures it is a vague enough question for him to answer.

The smile on his face turns proud now. "Quite a few. And our numbers keep growing, on occasion. We've come a long way from the beginning of Watchtower."

"The Watchtower? Really?" April is so happy for him. "Oh wow. To have the chance to see the heroes who are called that."

"And you lead them?"

"Watchtower's our base," he explains. "One of the tallest buildings in the city, although some certain billionaire members of the League want to build a space station instead."

He nods. "I didn't in the beginning, but I have for several years now."

"The League? The Justice League?" Oh she wants to know who all the members are. Hear some of his stories of triumph.

And places her hands in her lap, in an attempt to calm her excitement. Hey she is still young. And is so curious about the hero her boyfriend is destined to become. That she always knew he would be great at.

"Thats amazing Clark."

"That's the one," he confirms, smiling at her, and he puts one hand over hers. "I know you want to know everything about them. But trust me when I say that they're friends that are well worth the wait."

And, because it seems somewhat cruel to not be able to tell her anything about the League's membership, he adds, "You've already met a few of them. Aquaman and Cyborg are both founding members."

"Really? I so must make a badge, one that reads I am friends with the JLA. I could certainly get Victor Allen on board with that."

"They came back? And are helping? Awesome."

He has to hide his thoughts especially carefully there, since that particular Victor has been working with the JLA for a while now. "Technically speaking, you are a member. Not just because you're married to me. Not all our members go out and fight supervillains."

She senses that Clark is using his mental blocks for a reason, but April judges that it is a good one.

There is a small smile when he mentions that she is a member. "I can't imagine how difficult that must be some times for her, er me. To work beside somone so handsome and attractive, and yet have to keep to the guise."

"It's a challenge sometimes," he says, teasing her a little. "But I've lost track of the number of times we've saved the world together now."

She blushes again. April is glad they still have that passion. That intimacy. For good reasons she hasn't see the fire in her Clark's eye for a while.

And when this Clark mentions they saved the world together, April smiles. "I would hope we have saved both our worlds a couple of times."
