lets do the time warp baby ((Future-Verse))

After a full week of classes, April felt drained and accomplished. Things were getting more intense with final papers and preparations for the end of her first year.

It felt good to enter her bed, cuddle into the blankets and fall asleep. Unfortunately, it seemed that her voices were not going to let her sleep easily tonight.

The vision came on stronger than any other she ever had. In the haunting whispers of the vision, April could see all seven faces of the Big Bads that were threatening Rome. And because of her knowledge of the TV shows, April woke up feeling worried.

She had to tell someone. And as she grabbed her phone, April felt strange and was surrounded by a sickly green light. This was bad... she knew it. And she felt being pulled into the light... then falling... falling... falling.

Until she hit the bed again. April gasped out loud. Not sure if that had been part of the dream or not. She didn't even notice that the bed in which she lay was bigger. Or that there was more space in the bedroom either.

Trying her phone again, all April received was static. It was like the phone wasn't working. And she set it down, and glanced around her surroundings. Noticing the bigger bed, and bedroom, April clutched the sheets to her in concern.

"Where am I?"

"That's the one," he confirms, smiling at her, and he puts one hand over hers. "I know you want to know everything about them. But trust me when I say that they're friends that are well worth the wait."

And, because it seems somewhat cruel to not be able to tell her anything about the League's membership, he adds, "You've already met a few of them. Aquaman and Cyborg are both founding members."

"Really? I so must make a badge, one that reads I am friends with the JLA. I could certainly get Victor Allen on board with that."

"They came back? And are helping? Awesome."

He has to hide his thoughts especially carefully there, since that particular Victor has been working with the JLA for a while now. "Technically speaking, you are a member. Not just because you're married to me. Not all our members go out and fight supervillains."

She senses that Clark is using his mental blocks for a reason, but April judges that it is a good one.

There is a small smile when he mentions that she is a member. "I can't imagine how difficult that must be some times for her, er me. To work beside somone so handsome and attractive, and yet have to keep to the guise."

"It's a challenge sometimes," he says, teasing her a little. "But I've lost track of the number of times we've saved the world together now."

She blushes again. April is glad they still have that passion. That intimacy. For good reasons she hasn't see the fire in her Clark's eye for a while.

And when this Clark mentions they saved the world together, April smiles. "I would hope we have saved both our worlds a couple of times."

"It's something for you to look forward to. I wouldn't exactly call it fun or relaxing, and there will be times where everything seems hopeless, but don't give up." He's become quite used to giving inspirational talks to his fellow heroes, and it's almost second nature to him now.

Hearing him give such inspirational advice, April reaches out to touch his face. "Wow. No wonder I love you."

"I hope you have several reasons," he says with a smile, but he's not dismissing what she says.

"Thousands upon thousands." April replies softly. Looking into his eyes for a moment, April feels suddenly foolish. She is flirting with her boyfrineds older counterpart. And its a bit confusing.

"Um... your mom. Is she still doing okay?" Conversation changes should work.

Clark isn't quite as thrown by it as she is. He's had time and experience on his side to get used to this sort of thing, although he does concede that anything more than flirting would probably be improper.

"She's doing fine. Better than fine, actually. One of the most popular Senators that Kansas has ever had."

"Oh good, she is still in the Senator seat." April always adored her time with Martha. "I bet that she is so happy to be a potential grandmother."

"She's over the moon about it," he says with a proud smile. "I'll be surprised if she hasn't knit enough baby booties and hats to equip a small army of infants by now."

"Any particular color?" April is prying now.

He laughs, knowing exactly what she's up to. "Yellow, mostly."

"So is this you not telling me sort of thing." April pokes him softly.

"That too. But we actually asked not to know. It's more of a surprise that way."

"Thats a wonderful idea. It is nice to have surprises in life." She smiles, "Sort of why I am not asking you a billion and one questions."

"Should we be doing anything about this?"

"Your displacement, you mean?" he asks, carefully. "Yes. There isn't a time limit as far as I'm aware, but... you don't belong in this timeline. Not yet." He brushes her hair back gently with the backs of his knuckles. "And I'd like to get my wife and child back home safely soon."

April closes her eyes at his touch. His touch still makes her weak in the knees. "And I would like to be back with my Clark."

"The first time around, the Powers That Be created a portal in this world's Rome, to set things right," he tells her. And, curious to know what her voices might be telling her, adds, "Does that sound right?"

April closes her eyes for a moment, concentrating. Of course, her gifts are still untrained. And so this Clark will have to deal with some floating objects, a first time for him in a long time.

"Yes... I see Rome."

He was sort of expecting the floating, knowing how young she is, and how she has to close her eyes and focus to get her insight. "Do you want to fly, or PINpoint?"

It also takes her longer to come out of the visions than it does for his wife. "Could we fly?" She wants to see a little of their future world. Even from the skies.

"Sure. But I should probably suit up again, in case anyone notices." It isn't like it takes very long, since a moment later, Superman is sitting next to her.
