When it came to dating, it was nice to have time alone with Clark. But really, they weren't able to socialize with other couples because in his world it would mean keeping too many secrets. So today April had an idea.

She arranged for a table for four at a nice diner that had a beautiful view of the Tiber River. And close by, there was an alleyway that would allow privacy for those with PINpoint to arrive for the lunch. After that was all arranged, April sent out two invitations.

To Kairos: Hey Kairos, I would like to invite you and Connor to a lunch with me and Clark. PINpoint coordinates are attached. It is a nice casual event. I hope you can attend.

Then to Clark: Hey sweetie. I thought it would be nice to spend some time with another couple who met in the Nexus. I have invited Kairos and Connor to lunch, and would love you at my side. PINpoint coordinates are attached. See you soon!

With that done, all that is left is to wait.

The tension between Connor and Clark is noted with caution by April, but she trusts Kairos to handle the paranoid Immortal better than she can.

Besides, Connor would just wreck his sword if he did try anything against Clark. And April is confident that her boyfriend won't start anything.

"We were just about to order."

Clark deliberately keeps his posture relaxed, keeping his empty hands visible. He's not worried about Connor trying to hurt him, but collateral damage is always a possibility, and he wants to make a good impression. Or at least not a negative one. He has enough enemies already.

Still, he has to tilt his head a little curiously, a small frown creasing his brow. "You do?" He's not entirely sure what that means, whether he's met an alternate of Clark, whether he has a lookalike in Connor's universe, or any number of things. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

Kairos starts stroking Connor's arm again reassuringly. She's a little alarmed but she's trusting that Connor will relax eventually. Clark doesn't mean any harm, and he knows how to handle dangerous animals, living on a farm.

She'll let them talk, though, frowning a little at April.

Connor's gaze darts to April, then to Kairos, and he rubs the back of his neck with one hand and offers a handshake with the other, only a little grudgingly. "I don't know. I saw you in the Nexus." He frowns in thought. "Or one of you."

Suddenly April hopes it wasn't a Clark on red-kryptonite. "That must have been confusing for you Connor. I know I am still not used to seeing alternate Clarks. Seeing them, taking to them, and yet knowing that they aren't my boyfriend."

Attuning herself slightly to Kairos, April caught her eye.

Clark shakes Connor's hand, not squeezing too hard or holding on too long, still making his best effort to seem friendly. "There seem to be a lot of me around," he says calmly. He doesn't want to apologize for something an alternate did, especially if he didn't do anything, and he doesn't want to look guilty either. "Good to meet you." He makes eye contact for a few moments, but doesn't hold it in case Connor takes it as a challenge of some kind.

"Should we get to the main event?" he suggests politely, hoping that perhaps tensions will ease if they're not focused on confronting each other.

The thought that resonates through Kai's mind is Hmph. Alpha-men. She gives April a sheepish smile.

"Yes, please sit down, Connor." there's a slight edge to her tone, and she's attempting to pull him back into his chair. "I'm hungry, aren't you?"

"...Sure." Connor's grip is strong and his right hand is slightly callused from daily sword practice, but he's not blind to Kai's quiet commands. After the handshake, he sinks back down beside her, still rubbing the back of his neck a little. Good luck getting him to eat much when he's this tense.

He also gets the feeling he may be apologizing to her later in private, for being kind of an ass to Clark.

April hides a smile behind the menu at Kairo's thoughts. It was true. There was some very Alpha action in the first couple of moments.

"We could start with drinks," Hopefully that will provide something familiar to Connor. "Then order appetizers and a main course."

Clark figures the best course of action is to continue as if nothing happened, and he turns his attention to the menu. He could read the whole thing in a split second, but he's not in any rush, so he takes his time. Plus he doesn't recognize a lot of the things listed, having spent most of his life on a farm in the middle of nowhere.

"You guys go ahead, I'll go last. Need a minute to decide."

Kairos looks over the menu. There's a couple of things that sounds fantastic. "Have you been here before, April? There's so much I don't know which to choose."

"Well when in Rome... we could order pizza?"

The menu gets a brief looking-over, and then Connor looks at the drinks list... not that he plans on getting drunk around anyone he doesn't trust well, but Kairos wants him to behave, and he knows he probably is being paranoid, and a drink or two might mellow him a little.

Connor doesn't eat well when he's jumpy, anyway. "Pizza's fine..."

Clark avoids the alcoholic beverages entirely. He's still underage and it's been drilled into him that he has to obey all the laws that he can - not that it's ever stopped him from draining bars dry when he's under the influence of red kryptonite. But he's on his best behavior, so he settles for just a Coca-Cola.

"Pizza works for me too." He's had pizza loads of times, but the cheap American delivery version, not real Italian pizza. And he's not picky about toppings, so long as there aren't peas on it. "I'll eat just about anything."

Kairos is 29 19, and in France she's legal age to drink. But she doesn't drink often (because she's a lightweight.) "Pizza totally works. With extra cheese?" she asks hopefully.

She'll go ahead and chose something feminine and fruity to drink, along with a glass of ice water.

Connor is four-hundred-ninety-two. He might be physically nineteen, but he'd argue that being born before there was a legal drinking age gives him every right to booze it up. He'll just order a beer, though, and if he's carded, he has an ID that says his name is Russell Nash and he was born October 22, 1945. He should really get an updated alias.

"Yeah, pizza with anything." Connor tries a smile, but it's still a tense one.

Clark's seventeen, a year older than Italy's minimum drinking age in public, but he's not old enough at home and he knows his parents would be disappointed if he abused the opportunity to bend the rules. And he can't get drunk, so it holds little appeal for him anyhow. Kal only does it because it's forbidden and he thinks it's funny.

"Extra cheese is totally fine with me. I'm a big fan of sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, all that stuff."

Kai grins at Clark. "Sounds yummy. I like onions and peppers too."

((I suggest we wait!))

Connor smiles weakly at Kairos, and reaches to squeeze her hand under the table. "Okay. Whatever you guys want." American slang in a mixed European accent sounds strange.

"They are so going to look at us weirdly, but I am totally game with all the toppings that were mentioned." April decided, flagging a waitress. She has no official ID, so will settle for a mocktail.

"One pizza, extra cheese, sausages, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and sun-dried tomatoes. Extra large. With four plates please."

With that settles, April relaxes slightly. "How have things been with you both since I last saw you?" It is directed at Kairos and Connor.

Clark grins. "It's not that weird. Pete and I once ordered a pizza with pineapple, anchovies, and bean sprouts. It was the most disgusting pizza ever, so of course we ate the whole thing. I think we were about eleven."

Kai chuckles. "That's.. really freaking cute. My sister and I didn't get good pizza 'till we moved to Sanctuary. The Magistrate had Ideas of how foreign food should be. Which it stupid."

And then to answer April's question.
"Well. Connor's back. I think I unwittingly became someone's pimp. Otherwise, it's been pretty quiet at home."

Connor glances at Kairos sharply, bewildered. "What do you mean, someone's pimp?" He adds in an aside for April and Clark's benefit, "I... was visiting my kinsman. My old student. We had some things to work out."

"The reason I noted we would be getting strange looks, because in Italy they don't really put a lot of anything on their pizza. It is designed as a lighter meal."

April too gave Kairos a concerned look at her pimp statement.

"How did you visit with the clansmate go Connor?"

"Oh." Ever the oblivious farmboy tourist. "Today, the part of obnoxious American tourist will be played by Clark Kent," he jokes.

He, too, gives Kairos a bit of a confused look at the pimp remark. How does that happen on accident?
