When it came to dating, it was nice to have time alone with Clark. But really, they weren't able to socialize with other couples because in his world it would mean keeping too many secrets. So today April had an idea.

She arranged for a table for four at a nice diner that had a beautiful view of the Tiber River. And close by, there was an alleyway that would allow privacy for those with PINpoint to arrive for the lunch. After that was all arranged, April sent out two invitations.

To Kairos: Hey Kairos, I would like to invite you and Connor to a lunch with me and Clark. PINpoint coordinates are attached. It is a nice casual event. I hope you can attend.

Then to Clark: Hey sweetie. I thought it would be nice to spend some time with another couple who met in the Nexus. I have invited Kairos and Connor to lunch, and would love you at my side. PINpoint coordinates are attached. See you soon!

With that done, all that is left is to wait.

"Maybe." Clark is still a bit weirded out that his future self was wandering around the Nexus in the first place. Alternates are one thing. But his real actual self, dating April and everything, is just weird.

At a loss for what to talk about next, he takes another slice of pizza and devotes a good deal of his attention to inhaling it as only teenage boys can manage.

The pizza inhaling by Clark is one of the reasons that April ordered a bigger size. She is fine with just one slice, as human food is not what sustains her, but is just glad that the others are enjoying their meal.

"I think we should leave poor Clark and his alternates alone for a moment. What do you guys think of Rome? I know Kairos had been here before."

"Just once! But it's totally gorgeous. Good company too. And this is probably the best pizza ever."

If Connor was his normal, healthy self, they'd need two pizzas. He's physically nineteen, after all. He's anxious and tense, though, and he's still nibbling at his first slice. He's on his second beer, though.
"I don't think I've ever been in Rome... I've been in Ravenna, where the good fencing schools are, and I was... around a little, in the second war." Not good times, those.

((Argh. So sorry. There was a boom, and our whole block lost power about a minute after my last re... and just now got it back, and we're about to go get dinner. One of those days? If you guys want to skip Connor a couple rounds you can, he's not a big talker anyway.))

"I've only been here once," Clark says, smiling a little at April. The memory is a little bittersweet, since it was their last date before she was abducted. "It's a beautiful place, though. Amazing architecture, nice climate, fantastic sunlight." He puts a little more emphasis on the last point than anything else. He's always been drawn to more sunny places, and with good reason.

((My turn for apologies, I had to go to work and didn't have time to message anybody. I'm back now though!))

"I gave Clark a tour of a Demon bar when he was last here." April added. "Fortunately we had not encountered any trouble."

"Are they nice? There's a club in town run by a succubus. I do a lot of the paintings in the place, and it's pretty popular."

"It was... interesting," Clark says diplomatically. "I'm not sure if I'll be welcome back again if I ever have to go in there, though. My last visit was a little, um, disruptive."

"Only because you had been so worried about me." April touches his hand. "You at least made one good first impression. On James."

((Sorry I'm sooo late. I've felt like something you'd find beneath someone's shoe all day.))

"ah. I ... see. Clubs can get rowdy on their own, and you add demons in the mix.." Not that she has much experience in clubs, but she's been in Thorne's a time or two.

((Aww. Hope you feel better...))

Vampires and demons... they're making Connor feel almost normal. He watches and listens, one eyebrow rising a little, then interjects slowly, "I... haven't been in the Nexus long, I guess. All of that is normal, here?"

((ooc: no problems. Clark-mun at work for another hour or so))

"There are several creatures of myth and legend in this world. Witches, demons, vampires, fairies. It is an interesting dimension."

"I wish I could introduce you to Buffy. The Slayer. But she still hasn't returned from her fight with a really bad vampire."

Kai nods seriously. "Back home, too. My best friend Hyou is a werepanther. Sweet guy."

"Is Buffy okay?"

"I've never had competition for weird, before." He smirks faintly, blissfully unaware that he may be marginally insulting April. Connor will never win a prize for tact. He glances at Kairos, because she's mentioned Hyou plenty, but never that he's a werepanther. Now he's going to be wondering about everyone else they mention.

"...And that's okay. I'm not good with people."

"I think you would find Buffy interesting Connor. She is the best sword woman our world has."

"I don't know if she will be or not. My father went to find her. She was kidnapped by a vampire. And that's a tough situation. Being kidnapped. You just have to wait... and be strong."

Kairos frowns. It sounds like April knows from experience. "I hope so. I'm sure she will be." Suddenly she's not so hungry anymore.

Connor scowls, and puts down everything. Kairos is uneasy, but he's inclined to take it to the next level. "Shouldn't somebody be doing something about it?" His tone half suggests that if somebody points him in the right direction, he'll take on that job.

"My father, another Slayer and a witch went to rescue her. And they have done this sort of thing before. I think it will work out."

"We do have some amazing weapons back home though."

"Oh.. I see. Well if you're positive.." And then her curiosity gets the better of her. "Like what?"

He's not exactly satisfied by the answer, but he's also got no way to go do anything about the situation. "Keep us updated." He finishes his second beer, and pokes idly at the last of his pizza slice.

Clark's heard some of April's story before, so he concentrates mostly on eating while he listens. "Her friends sound pretty capable. I haven't met any of them yet, but judging by the sparring room, they can handle themselves."

"An assortment of martial weapons. Swords, katanas, axes, and some with magically enchanted. Clark and I had sparred with those weapons before."

The pizza is almost completely gone. April figured it was time for dessert. And calling the waiter over, she ordered eight cannolis.

"Cool. John's offered to teach me how to shoot a gun and use a sword.. but.." Kairos shrugs. "I get the feeling I'd slice or shoot off a hand or something."

((deepest apologies. Still sick.))

Connor pushes back his plate a little, looking thoughtful. "I've already got one student from the Nexus, but I could take others. I'm not a nice teacher," He smiles, and it's not a nice smile, "But I know how to use a sword."

"I'm not really a weapon-user either," Clark says to Kairos. "I'm more of a hands-on sort of guy." He can use a sword, as he and April both know, but he's not trained at it at all and relies a lot on his invulnerability in combat.
