the past connects to the future

Another time-traveling circle has closed for April and Clark. She was sent into the past, by the Powers that Be, to work with the past-version of Clark; while her past-version was sent into the future and worked with the present-day Clark.

Together, past and present, they defeated the Seven Sins. And were able to complete another time-traveling adventure in the lives of the couple.

Right now, April and Clark are still standing in Rome, in the ancient tomes that once contained the Seven statues representing the Seven Sins. April rested on her husband's chest, him in his Superman costume, that has now become more familiar around the world.

April was nearly 39 weeks pregnant. Any the baby could come any day now... in fact there was more movement from her child each passing day. And those lovely practices of Braxton Hicks contractions. Fortunately, the main focus of today was just completing the time-travel, and no 'fake pregnancy'.

Looking up at her husband, April sighed softly. "I had forgotten how young we both were."

He smiles, and gently taps a finger against where the baby just kicked. "Don't worry, I know you're still there."

The baby kicks back. "Acorn missed you."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Acorn can tell the difference?" That's something he hadn't quite expected... he's still him, whether it's now or six years ago. Even though he's changed a lot in those six years.

[slayers_desire]

"Past you were so at unease, I think that Acorn wasn't used to that reaction."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

It's interesting to think about, whether the baby can sense it through the bond with April or whether their child has inherited some of her telepathic powers. How much of the outside world does the baby sense at this point, he wonders. "So you both must be pretty tired after that ordeal."

"Mmmm me leaning on you was the first clue, right Mr. Reporter?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It's my amazing Kryptonian intuition," he says with a straight face.

[slayers_desire]

"You are such a Super goofball."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Yes, but I'm your Super goofball."

[slayers_desire]

April gave him a long and deep kiss. "Care to fly me home?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It would be my privilege." He carefully sweeps her up in his arms, and makes for the exit from the cave, before taking to the sky.

April is so glad that her husband has absolutely no fear carrying her, not like his younger stuff had. She loves flying with him.

"I am no hurry."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He has no problem taking his time either. It's been a long time since they could risk flying like this, just for fun, with no crisis looming or fear of being seen. He's known to the world now, and if someone spots him, it doesn't matter anymore.

And it's a long way between Rome and Metropolis, with whole continents to traverse, far above people going about their lives without the Darkness.

Seeing a whole new area of the world, untouched by the Darkness, is so uplifting. April strokes her hands up Superman's chest with a smile.

They helped free the world of the Darkness. It is nice to see.

"This is so beautiful."

"We're lucky that we get to see it," he agrees. Sometimes he feels sorry for the rest of the population who can't fly. Being up here is so freeing, so relaxing... it gives him a perspective he would otherwise totally miss.

Flying is so special, it would be wonderful if their child inherited it. A little dangerous too...

"So very little few do."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"But now more people will get the chance." Maybe there will be people who will develop powers they wouldn't have had under the Darkness. Maybe it will be something as mundane as more people becoming astronauts, now that the world knows there is life out there. Either way, the people of this world have the opportunity now.

[slayers_desire]

This is truly a time for heros. The ones who walk the street every day. The ones who take to the cape. The ones who sacrifice everything for innocents.

"I am glad this is the world our child is born into."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I'm rather fond of it myself," he says with a knowing smile.

They're above the ocean now, coming up on the coastline of North America, and Clark knows every mile of it like the back of his hand.

"There are so many beauties to the world, that I can't pick my favorite. But I have a few... heh... memorable places."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Like a certain beach in France?" he asks, looking fond of the memory himself. Even if it wasn't in this world, he's sure the beach exists here too.

[slayers_desire]

"Yes..." April blushes. He can still do that to her.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He's come a long way from the shy teenager she first met, and his blush is nowhere near as powerful as it once was. But then, she's come a long way too, and his attraction to her has only increased. "We should take some time off for ourselves again one of these days. After the baby's born."

[slayers_desire]

April shivers lightly in his arms. "That would be nice."

"Of course, our time after the baby is born, might be harder to find."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"That's true. But I'm sure we'd have no shortage of babysitters if we wanted to just do a day trip. We have an entire Justice League looking out for us, after all, and Mom, when she's not busy with government duties."
