the past connects to the future

Another time-traveling circle has closed for April and Clark. She was sent into the past, by the Powers that Be, to work with the past-version of Clark; while her past-version was sent into the future and worked with the present-day Clark.

Together, past and present, they defeated the Seven Sins. And were able to complete another time-traveling adventure in the lives of the couple.

Right now, April and Clark are still standing in Rome, in the ancient tomes that once contained the Seven statues representing the Seven Sins. April rested on her husband's chest, him in his Superman costume, that has now become more familiar around the world.

April was nearly 39 weeks pregnant. Any the baby could come any day now... in fact there was more movement from her child each passing day. And those lovely practices of Braxton Hicks contractions. Fortunately, the main focus of today was just completing the time-travel, and no 'fake pregnancy'.

Looking up at her husband, April sighed softly. "I had forgotten how young we both were."

"Me too. You've grown into your powers so much since then..." He kisses the top of her head, his arms wrapped around her. "It's hard to believe we were ever that young."

"There was so much I wish I could have told younger us, but I know that we have... and did face everything that we were destined to face."

"There were so many things we had to experience, and learn for ourselves. I really don't know if we would've made good changes if we'd tried. And we turned out okay." He touches her belly now, feeling the little movements of the baby inside. "All three of us."

April is still a little drained from the trials. So she leans completely on him for support. "This whole experience has me thinking of how much my world needs me... and how much I wish I could be there for them."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"You'll be able to soon," he assures her, kissing her again. "Once the baby's born, and you've recovered, shouldn't it be safe for you to go back?"

[slayers_desire]

"It will be. And I know you will be there with me when I do go. Just like you were here for me today. And all those years ago."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Of course I will. We made sure our world is safe. We can do the same for yours."

[slayers_desire]

"And our child will be able to grow up safe in this world, and visit my world without fear." That thought makes her happy. And it seems the baby is happy too, giving another light kick.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He smiles at feeling her happiness, and hearing the little sounds of the baby responding to it. "Our child may be half-Kryptonian, but he or she is half-vampire too. And while we don't live on your world, it should be as much a home to our child as this one."

[slayers_desire]

"I know. My home is with you... it doesn't matter which world we are on."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Or what time we're in?" he asks with a chuckle.

[slayers_desire]

"That too... You know I am so used to seeing you in this now, that it was weird hanging out with your younger self." The this in that statement refers to the Superman costume.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Fair's fair... I remember when I was him, you being pregnant blew my mind. And I had to keep reminding myself today that the baby didn't just disappear."

[slayers_desire]

"Nope... baby is still here..." April giggles lightly over another light kick.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He smiles, and gently taps a finger against where the baby just kicked. "Don't worry, I know you're still there."

[slayers_desire]

The baby kicks back. "Acorn missed you."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Acorn can tell the difference?" That's something he hadn't quite expected... he's still him, whether it's now or six years ago. Even though he's changed a lot in those six years.

[slayers_desire]

"Past you were so at unease, I think that Acorn wasn't used to that reaction."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

It's interesting to think about, whether the baby can sense it through the bond with April or whether their child has inherited some of her telepathic powers. How much of the outside world does the baby sense at this point, he wonders. "So you both must be pretty tired after that ordeal."

[slayers_desire]

"Mmmm me leaning on you was the first clue, right Mr. Reporter?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It's my amazing Kryptonian intuition," he says with a straight face.

[slayers_desire]

"You are such a Super goofball."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Yes, but I'm your Super goofball."

[slayers_desire]

April gave him a long and deep kiss. "Care to fly me home?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It would be my privilege." He carefully sweeps her up in his arms, and makes for the exit from the cave, before taking to the sky.
