the past connects to the future

Another time-traveling circle has closed for April and Clark. She was sent into the past, by the Powers that Be, to work with the past-version of Clark; while her past-version was sent into the future and worked with the present-day Clark.

Together, past and present, they defeated the Seven Sins. And were able to complete another time-traveling adventure in the lives of the couple.

Right now, April and Clark are still standing in Rome, in the ancient tomes that once contained the Seven statues representing the Seven Sins. April rested on her husband's chest, him in his Superman costume, that has now become more familiar around the world.

April was nearly 39 weeks pregnant. Any the baby could come any day now... in fact there was more movement from her child each passing day. And those lovely practices of Braxton Hicks contractions. Fortunately, the main focus of today was just completing the time-travel, and no 'fake pregnancy'.

Looking up at her husband, April sighed softly. "I had forgotten how young we both were."

"We're lucky that we get to see it," he agrees. Sometimes he feels sorry for the rest of the population who can't fly. Being up here is so freeing, so relaxing... it gives him a perspective he would otherwise totally miss.

Flying is so special, it would be wonderful if their child inherited it. A little dangerous too...

"So very little few do."

"But now more people will get the chance." Maybe there will be people who will develop powers they wouldn't have had under the Darkness. Maybe it will be something as mundane as more people becoming astronauts, now that the world knows there is life out there. Either way, the people of this world have the opportunity now.

This is truly a time for heros. The ones who walk the street every day. The ones who take to the cape. The ones who sacrifice everything for innocents.

"I am glad this is the world our child is born into."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I'm rather fond of it myself," he says with a knowing smile.

They're above the ocean now, coming up on the coastline of North America, and Clark knows every mile of it like the back of his hand.

"There are so many beauties to the world, that I can't pick my favorite. But I have a few... heh... memorable places."

"Like a certain beach in France?" he asks, looking fond of the memory himself. Even if it wasn't in this world, he's sure the beach exists here too.

[slayers_desire]

"Yes..." April blushes. He can still do that to her.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He's come a long way from the shy teenager she first met, and his blush is nowhere near as powerful as it once was. But then, she's come a long way too, and his attraction to her has only increased. "We should take some time off for ourselves again one of these days. After the baby's born."

[slayers_desire]

April shivers lightly in his arms. "That would be nice."

"Of course, our time after the baby is born, might be harder to find."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"That's true. But I'm sure we'd have no shortage of babysitters if we wanted to just do a day trip. We have an entire Justice League looking out for us, after all, and Mom, when she's not busy with government duties."

[slayers_desire]

"Who knew that being a member of the Justice League included babysitting?" April chuckled lightly. But she is glad they have so many friends to call upon. Especially, since making time for them will be just as important the first year after having the baby... just like they learned it was important in that first year of marriage.

"Hey, they're practically family." He pauses for a moment and gets an amused sort of look in his eyes. "But we won't let Uncle Bart babysit by himself. I can see that getting out of hand very easily."

[slayers_desire]

"And the best thing is that the more free babysitting we get, the more couple time we will have."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"And if something comes up that does require Mommy's attention, you'll only be a thought away." He starts descending towards Metropolis, that shining city in the middle of Kansas, their home.

[slayers_desire]

"OUr child will never have to cry too loud, with mom being a psychic and dad being Superman."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Too bad other parents don't get the same advantage."

[slayers_desire]

"Knowing our luck, we might need powers to keep up with our kid."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I'd say that's a near certainty." He checks to make sure they aren't being observed before landing on the apartment balcony. He may be known to the world, but he doesn't want them knowing where he lives. That would defeat the purpose of a secret identity.

[slayers_desire]

It is nice to be back home. "I never saw the nursery when the younger me was here."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I didn't want to overwhelm you... her. I remember how much of a shock it was for me when I first saw you." As he speaks, he changes back into his ordinary clothes, becoming plain old Clark Kent once more.

[slayers_desire]

"I think you were in shock still when things returned to normal." April laughed softly. "Past you still couldn't believe you would be a dad someday."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Part of me still can't," he admits with a grin. "It's like a dream I never want to wake up from."

[slayers_desire]

April sits down in the recycliner, which has become her favorite chair to relax into. "Do you think we are ready?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He takes a seat on the couch next to her chair, glad just to be close to her. "I'm not sure if anyone is ever completely ready. But we've taken all the right steps, I think. We can't know all the perfect things to do, but we'll give it a shot, whenever our Acorn decides it's time."
