future!verse: the return of Hawkman

After years of waiting for the return of a lost friend, Prince Khufu was back. He did not have all of his memories back, but they were returning. And he remembered saving April.

He had first met with Laura in the Nexus. April was able to confirm that Kaidan Hill was the new incarnation of Hawkman. Of Prince Khufu.

There was a lot of information to share with Kaidan. And April felt it was best at the farm house. And so took him, and her daughter back to the farm with her.

She carefully watches Kaiden. The last time he was at the farm, he was Carter and he had fought to the death to save her life.

"Let's hold off on that... I want to get my own head on straight before I start messing with his."

[slayers_desire]

"Then it will just be the six of us. Seven if William is home tonight."

[younghawks]

"That sounds pretty hectic. Six kids... I don't know if I ever had that many."

[slayers_desire]

"We always wanted a big family. After William, I was unable to carry a child again. So we adopted. First the twins. Then Martha."

[younghawks]

"Martha? I thought that was Clark's mother." He's not sure if his memories are confused or if this is just a coincidence.

[slayers_desire]

"All of our children have names that are special to us. Even the twins, who were named before we met them."

"Jon after Clark's dad. Laura after Clark's real mom. William after my dad. Martha after Clark's mom."

[younghawks]

"And... the twins?"

[slayers_desire]

"Drake and Dru. Dru was the name of my mother."

[younghawks]

"That's a lot of coincidences. Not the ones you named, but the ones you adopted, I mean. Unless that's why you picked them?"

[slayers_desire]

"We wouldn't pick the children on their names... I just think it was destiny. Drake and Dru needed us. They are telepathic."

"And Martha... completed our family."

[younghawks]

"If you weren't telepathic too, I'd ask how you manage to keep track of them all."

[slayers_desire]

"I was literally the mom with eyes in the back of her head."

[younghawks]

"I think I've only had siblings a couple of times. Usually brothers, sometimes a sister. I think I'm usually reborn in small families."

[slayers_desire]

"And this time. What kind of family were you born into?"

[younghawks]

"No siblings. My mom raised me by herself; I don't know who my father was."

[slayers_desire]

"A single-mother. Very admirable."

[younghawks]

"She did the best she could. It wasn't always great, but it could've been far worse."

[slayers_desire]

"I didn't have parents growing up. But I am glad you had a good life."

[younghawks]

"I think I've had lives like that before. Bad parents too, not often though."

[slayers_desire]

"I like to think we are good parents."

"Speaking of which... help me set the table?"

[younghawks]

He looks a bit surprised, but immediately nods. "Certainly." He's more polite than Carter was, by the time she knew him.

[slayers_desire]

There is a big kitchen table that will need setting. April sets out plates and cutley for him, while she checks on supper.

It won't be long before he gets the feeling of being watched.

[younghawks]

Even though it doesn't feel hostile, centuries of battle instinct makes the tiny hairs on the back of his neck stand up at the feeling, and he looks around, alert for whoever's staring at him.

[dru_kent]

There is a little girl watching him. Brown hair. Big eyes. She is peering around the corner, watching him set the table.

"Hello Dru." April says without even glancing over her shoulder. "We have a guest for supper. Did you want to get the other children down here please?"

[younghawks]

Kaidan relaxes slightly, now that he knows who and where she is, and he turns back to finishing setting the table. "Hello," he says, with a glance in her direction.
