future!verse: the return of Hawkman

After years of waiting for the return of a lost friend, Prince Khufu was back. He did not have all of his memories back, but they were returning. And he remembered saving April.

He had first met with Laura in the Nexus. April was able to confirm that Kaidan Hill was the new incarnation of Hawkman. Of Prince Khufu.

There was a lot of information to share with Kaidan. And April felt it was best at the farm house. And so took him, and her daughter back to the farm with her.

She carefully watches Kaiden. The last time he was at the farm, he was Carter and he had fought to the death to save her life.

He feels more happier. A little confused... but happier

When supper is over, Clark looks for a reason to have William stay behind. "Wil, why don't you help us with the dishes tonight?"

"I guess it is my turn." He knows a hint when he sees it, and doesn't object.

[slayers_desire]

"The rest of you can finish your homework before you play any games." April knows her children will follow the rules of the house with no objection.

[younghawks]

Well, no objection besides the usual token whining of "Aw, Mom," from Martha. But it's only verbal, and she heads up to her room to work on her project without kicking up a fuss.

Kaidan stays at the table, not sure what to do, whether the Kents will want him to wash the dishes with them or not.

"I have told Clark about you Aidan. Don't be afraid to talk to him."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I'm not afraid," Kaidan says, and nods to Clark. "It's good to see you again."

"You too. It's been a long time."

((I like how the K keeps disappearing from his name, lol))

"As old as Jonathan is." April chuckled softly. "But we didn't forget you."

"Sorry I can't say the same, but at least I'm working on fixing that now." It's not like it was his fault that he didn't remember. But he's fully embracing the memories as they return.

William's just confused. "I thought you said you hadn't met him before, Dad."

[slayers_desire]

"Kaidan is the reborn soul of a friend of ours. While your father hasn't met Kaidan before... he does remember our friend."

"His name was Carter Hall. He was Hawkman."

[younghawks]

William is surprised by that, and slightly awed. "You're Hawkman?"

"Apparently," Kaidan answers. "It certainly explains a lot of things."

[slayers_desire]

"All the memories of his past lives are just returning."

"But you can see why we didn't want the younger children to know."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"At least until Kaidan's officially Hawkman again. You are planning on rejoining the Justice League, aren't you?" Clark asks.

Kaidan hesitates a bit. "I've... thought about it."

[slayers_desire]

"Jon has started heroing." April tells Kaidan. "But no one is going to rush you into anything."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Well, it's not that, mostly. I like my old armor, and reclaiming it's always a bit... awkward. To say the least."

"I can understand that," Clark agrees. It has to be really strange to go graverobbing in your own tomb, let alone more than once.

[slayers_desire]

April has visited places where Clark has died on her. And even in the farm, there are memories of death are there.

"I can understand that."

[younghawks]

"Yeah. And I don't want to reclaim it until I'm ready to start flying again. Conditioning my new body always takes a while since I have to start all over."

[slayers_desire]

"Flying is one of those things that takes time to learn." It still makes her nervous to think of any of her children in the air. Even though she has complete faith in her husband.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Oh, I remember how, but I need to practice and build up the muscle I need for it first. Some of us don't have it as easy as you," he adds to Clark.

Clark shrugs, but he's smiling when he does. "What can I say? I'm a natural."

[slayers_desire]

"No comment." April remembers helping Clark take those first flying lessons.

Clark remembers too. And it's thanks to her persistence that he was able to fly as early as he did. "Probably the safest bet," he teases her.

"Of course Kaidan, you can consider the farm door open in case you ever need to talk to someone."

[younghawks]

"Thanks, kid." The nickname is out of his mouth before he even thinks about it, and a weird look crosses his face, quickly followed by an apologetic one.

"...this is too weird," William says, shaking his head. Someone who looks barely older than himself just called his mother kid, and even knowing that he's much older doesn't help.

[slayers_desire]

"You mean being a mother doesn't exempt me from the nickname?" April fakes a sigh of exasperation.

[younghawks]

"Well you are older than me this time around." Even if only physically.

[slayers_desire]

"I am older. I have kids your age." April reminded him. "And if it was weird for William, it would be weirder for the others."
