the kind of future you don't want to have ((future!verse))
It was midnight.
The perfect time for Dark Oak to be out hunting. There was no out at this time beside the ones she hunted anyway. They locked up the humans to control the streets. The Kandorians.
But they couldn't control her. She was the best one for the job when it came to an assassination, such as her goal for tonight. To get in and do the job without getting noticed and without leaving any trace of what happened.
One night at a time they attempted to reclaim their world. Tried to work against Zod and his army. And tried to reclaim the lives of thousands of innocent people.
And while she worked for a rebel team, Dark Oak still felt alone. Her heart felt heavy, ever since she and Clark got separated. Zod seemed determined in making Clark hurt... and Dark Oak did what she could to hurt Zod back.
The darkness was there again in her mind. And she had to take a moment to stop... and wait...

Lois shakes her head, and her expression clears a little when she notices Oliver with her rescuers. "Oliver!"
"Heya, Legs," he answers, smiling despite himself. "Long time no see."
"Am I ever glad to see you and your band of merry men!"
no subject
"They are not all men. Your cousin is here too."
And she is just going to stay in Clark's arms. Confident that with her Earth elementals outside protecting them, they are safe for the moment.

Lois gives her cousin a hug. "Man, those crazy space invaders almost killed us. You've got great timing, 'cos."
Oliver, meanwhile, has been distracted at the sight of Tess dying. Once his lover, now a long time enemy, he still can't help but feel concern for her.
Clark can't bring himself to watch, focusing on his wife in his arms. "Nice elemental spell. Your idea?"
no subject
"I saw that they were coming for you." She touches his hair, leaning close to touch her forehead to his.

"I can't believe I am in your arms again."
no subject
"It's really good to hear your voice outside of my head again."
no subject
"I am not letting you out of my sight this time."
no subject
"I want to bury Tess," Oliver says, meeting her eyes.
"We don't have time-"
"I'll make time."

"It lets you travel through time," Clark explains. "We need to get it back. Then you can return to the past and stop Zod's solar tower from being built. Stop all this from happening."

"I did what I thought was best," Clark says, though it's a weak defense and he knows it.
Lois doesn't know what's going on, but she doesn't like this tension she's seeing and hearing. "Okay, then, look. Why Clark decided to take on our enemy E.T.s by himself is beyond me, and maybe you think he abandoned the cause or something. But come on, aren't we all in this together?"
no subject
"Lois is right. We are in this together. And together we can fix this." She concentrates, focusing on her voices to see if they will tell her anymore clues.

Clark, obviously, can't see her visions. but his thoughts are already along similar lines. This is the first time since the takeover that he's felt like he might be able to do something. "You guys shut down that tower and bring back the yellow sun, you know I'm your best chance of getting back that ring." And he doesn't care if Lois hears. He's not going to say that he's the Blur, but finding out he has a secret identity is small potatoes compared to what they're facing.

"The towers are the key to the Kandorians' power. They collect all the sun's radiation, turn it red, and then beam it back up to the LuthorCorp satellites," Chloe explains. "Those satellites take the radiation, and they beam it back down to earth, giving them all their superhuman strength. If we take the tower down, we shut them down."
Lois looks alarmed. "Guys, I've seen Zod's troops. We are seriously outnumbered. We'd never reach it."
Clark knows that Chloe might not welcome his advice, but he needs to add in his two cents. "Sounds like it might be time to pull out the secret weapon. The Kandorians never found Watchtower, did they?"

"Bring back the yellow sun, and I promise you, we'll get the ring back and undo this."
"I have about a billion questions right now, but... how does turning the sun yellow make Clark our number-one draft pick for taking on this Zod guy?" Lois interrupts.

Clark pulls Chloe aside for a quick, private talk. And when they're done, he joins April at the window. "Chloe's sending the other rebels back. It'll be us, Oliver, and Lois. Too many people would attract attention."
