regaining trust is harder than it seems ((Clark, Harry Dresden))

It has been weeks since April's voices were returned to normal, thanks to the efforts of Clark, Ed and Cipher Nine. And while the voices returned to their everyday work, of providing assistance and advice to the Key, it seemed that she wasn't willing to pay attention.

April was scared, truth be told. She was scared in trusting her voices again.

It was J'onn who informed Clark that his wife was refusing to provide advice to the other JLA members. And while no one had suffered yet, it was like the team was missing a big part of their strengths.

She needs to believe in herself again, and she knows that this would be a good first step. "I want to see for myself... please."

"Then take a peek," he says, focusing on what he saw with his Sight. It isn't hard at all, as he only needs to think of it and the image flashes into his mind, as vivid and fresh as when he was looking at her.

April steps forward to gently touch him. She doesn't need touch to connect to a mind, but she hasn't been using her powers recently and it helps her to focus. Then she uses her telepathy to connect to what Harry saw.

She understands a lot of the symbolism in the Sight, since her voices do use symbolism to speak to her. And is awed herself at everything that she does see.

The most important thing that stands out, is her mental scars that are healing. And how there is no deep darkness, except for the old reflection of the past. She is moved by tears... happy tears.

"Wow..."

"I toldja so," Harry says with a smile. "I dunno what you looked like before, but I'm willing to bet it wasn't too far off from this."

The small boost to her confidence really helps. And she feels a little more peaceful. "I am glad you think so."

"I know so. The Sight can't lie. What you see is what you get. And truth be told, I'm glad I get to remember this along with all the other stuff I've Seen."

April can't help it, she embraces Harry with a happy hug. "I am glad you get to remember it too."

"Thank you so much Harry. I feel so much better."

"Hey, happy to help," he says, hugging her back. "You've got a gift; you need to use it. Can't let fear keep you back, 'cuz it'll drag you down and keep you in that dark."

"I will... I won't hold back anymore." She was allowing the darkness to have a grasp on her. But now she has faced her true self again, she won't forget it. Ever.

The soft whispers of her voices rush back with a wave, as if welcoming her back with a warm embrace.

Harry can see the change in her expression as she lets her voices back in. "Better?"

"It is like... reuniting with a life-long friend."

"Hey, if you were born with 'em, that's not surprising to hear."

[slayers_desire]

"They truly have a history longer than myself, or my mother."

[thepizzalord]

"Maybe you'll get a chance to learn more about 'em, now that you're back together."

[slayers_desire]

"I would really like to research their origins."

[thepizzalord]

"Hey, if there's ever anything I can do to help, call me up," Harry offers with a smile.

[slayers_desire]

"I am going to have a difficult time researching something like this... do you have any suggestions?"

[thepizzalord]

"Is your mother the only person you know about who had these same, ah, voices?" He wants a little more info before he can make a good suggestion.

[slayers_desire]

"Yes. She never researched into how she got them. She believed they were an afront to the Lord. And unfortunately, Angelus tormented her using that knowledge, driving her insane before embracing her as a vampire."

"That makes things a bit harder... I bet you've already looked in that big ol' Watcher library you've got access to."

[slayers_desire]

"Not extensively..." April admits. They have so many books, and no direction on where to held. And she wonders if she tuned her voices to this particular question, if they could even provide information on their own origins.

[thepizzalord]

"That'd probably be a good first step," Harry suggests. "Never underestimate the power of straight-up knowledge."

[slayers_desire]

"I guess I have always been overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge kept in the Watcher Library..."

[thepizzalord]

"Yeah, I can understand that. You've got that nifty trick for finding the books you want though," he says, remembering when she helped him research protection spells.

[slayers_desire]

"I have never called on my voices, to ask about my voices. Do you think it would work?"
