taking time to heal

For the next few days, April couldn't help but think of her friend Victor. Who had been captured by the alternate-Lionel Luthor, tortured and injured. It would take a lot of time for Victor to heal her wounds. There were also non-physical wounds too.

Cole didn't trust Clark. And Lionel was still out there. Plotting something.

Today, April was staring out to the city, her mind wandering today. Her PINpoint beeped in her hands. And she looked at it, reading the message waiting for her.

Clark should come home soon. And at least this message was a good one.

"It really is," he agrees. They already don't always have enough time for each other, between his jobs and other responsibilities, and from what he's heard, they might get even less time to be together once the baby's born.

But for now, that's months away, and he has a wife that needs to get out of her clothes. Something he can help her with, like a good husband.

They do well at balancing their busy lives with keeping a loving marriage. It is moments like this that speak volumes to her about how wonderful of a husband he is. And how lucky of a woman she is.

He is a good husband. The best ever.

He runs his hands up her back, once there's no clothing to get in the way. "What do you think... five minutes late?" he asks, kissing her.

"Five minutes? Hey lets not rush it. We can be late at least 20 minutes."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I suppose we can be fashionably late."

[slayers_desire]

"Good. The one thing that I never want to rush is this." April purrs. Kissing him deeply again. And again.

He takes his time, falling into bed with her, kissing her pregnant belly and reaffirming his love for her. These are the moments that keep him going when times are tough, and any opportunity to create new memories to cherish is a wonderful one.

There is nothing better in this world than reaffirming her marriage with Clark. And she enjoys every second of it.

The memories will last forever.

And afterwards, she finally gets dressed into a nice white dress.

Part of him wants to just stay in bed with her, but this celebration is far too important, and he's eager to see what kind of traditions the vampire community has in store for April. So he chooses an outfit that borders on business casual, not wanting to feel underdressed but not overly formal either.

"Do you know if this is going to be an all-night party?" he asks as he combs his hair into place.

"They are vampires love. Chances are that it will be." She carefully brushes her hair up into a ponytail. Something she hardly does.

"Good thing I had my fill of sunlight earlier. I'd hate to embarrass us both by falling asleep before the party's over." He's teasing her of course. He may not be much of a night person, but he's quite used to staying up late these days.

"You better not. I know the kind of things happens to an early sleeper at a sleep-over... and heavens knows you could wake up with a fake mustache."

"Hey, if that's the worst that could happen, I'd be grateful."

April turns her phonytail into a braid, then wraps the braid around her head. Giving her a different kind of look. "Okay, I think I am ready."

Shelby wags his tail hopefully as they finish getting ready to leave, and Clark pats him on the head. "Sorry buddy, you've got to stay here tonight. We'll be back in a while."

"We won't be long." April promises the dog. She opens the PINpoint to the vampire world. Taking Clark's hand to step through the portal.

Clark holds her hand and steps through together with her. A celebration is just what he needs right now to get his mind off things, and focus on the good things in his life. And he's looking forward to the festivities.

Tonight, the vampire village has been decorated with hanging lanterns. Many of them are covered with red wrapping paper, giving off a soft glow to the streets.

Mykal greets them when they arrive. "Welcome!" There is no sign of Spike yet.

"Hello Mykal," Clark greets him. "It's good to be back. Thank you for inviting us."

[slayers_desire]

Mykal embraced Clark in a manly bear hug. And almost lifted him off his feet.

"Thank you for bringing your wife. Tonight we are glad to celebrate her."

"Husband. Put him down." Sophie entered the conversation, heading over to the couple with her newborns in her arms.

"Hello Sophie," Clark says once he's back on his feet. He doesn't mind; the enthusiasm is welcome, though unexpected. "How're the twins?"

[slayers_desire]

"Beautiful. Would you like to hold one?" Sophie offers.

Mykal goes over to hug April. Not picking her up of course. "You look beautiful."

"Father told me that I should wear white." She laughed.

"Oh, may I?" It's good to get practice in, although it isn't quite the same as holding his own child, he's happy to give Sophie's arms a break from carrying at least one.

"Where is Spike?" he asks, once she mentions her father.

[slayers_desire]

It is a juggling act, but Sophie seemed practiced at it. She transfers one of the babies -- the boy -- into his arms.

"Spike is waiting at the ceremony area." Mykal explained. He takes April's arm, guiding them towards the area.

As they head that way, they will note other pregnant vampires, all of which are wearing white.

Clark's a little rusty at holding babies, something he hasn't done since the first day they had Evan, but it's like riding a bicycle in that you never really forget. "What does the white mean?" he asks as they get closer.
