taking time to heal

For the next few days, April couldn't help but think of her friend Victor. Who had been captured by the alternate-Lionel Luthor, tortured and injured. It would take a lot of time for Victor to heal her wounds. There were also non-physical wounds too.

Cole didn't trust Clark. And Lionel was still out there. Plotting something.

Today, April was staring out to the city, her mind wandering today. Her PINpoint beeped in her hands. And she looked at it, reading the message waiting for her.

Clark should come home soon. And at least this message was a good one.

Now that they're living in the city, it's much easier for Clark to swing by Watchtower and the hospital on the way home from work, checking up on things. And he doesn't have nearly as far to go before he's coming up the elevator to their apartment, having assured himself that all is well.

She senses him coming home. And smiles to herself, as the door is open. "I trust everything is doing okay?"

"Lionel hasn't caused trouble yet, and Victor's recovering okay." He doesn't say she's doing well, because who would be after that, and it's too early to tell if she's going to have any complications from the burns. But she's hanging in there. "You look pretty happy."

"I just got an text message from my Father." Her relationship with Spike has been getting better. And she now looks forward to hearing from him.

"How's he doing?" Clark always encourages her to form relationships with others like her, and especially her father. And he's pretty pleased that they're getting along so well these days.

[slayers_desire]

"He is excited about a celebration at the vampire world tonight. Thinks that we would benefit by coming."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Another celebration?" Not that he's complaining, mind you. The vampire world seems to have a lot to celebrate, and the community benefits from the time spent together.

[slayers_desire]

"I think it is wonderful they have these celebrations." With the things going on in their lives right now, she could use a few happy moments to keep her hope alive. To keep positive.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"What're we helping them celebrate this time?" he asks, putting away his work things. "Do I need to keep the tie on?"

[slayers_desire]

April looks at her PINpoint again. And smiles. "All the pregnant woman of the community. Spike says they want to celebrate me too."

"So... no tie needed."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Must be a lot of them," he says with a smile. "I'll change into something more comfortable and we can go as soon as you're ready."

[slayers_desire]

"I need to change too." April walks with him towards the bedroom.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I just hope we don't get too distracted... we wouldn't want to be late." Although he's sure the vampires wouldn't mind, and would probably understand more than anybody.

[slayers_desire]

"Distracted? Why just because I would like to undress you?"

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Well, we do have to take advantage of our time together while we can," he says with an innocent look.

[slayers_desire]

"Our time together is very precious." April kissed him deeply.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It really is," he agrees. They already don't always have enough time for each other, between his jobs and other responsibilities, and from what he's heard, they might get even less time to be together once the baby's born.

But for now, that's months away, and he has a wife that needs to get out of her clothes. Something he can help her with, like a good husband.

[slayers_desire]

They do well at balancing their busy lives with keeping a loving marriage. It is moments like this that speak volumes to her about how wonderful of a husband he is. And how lucky of a woman she is.

He is a good husband. The best ever.

He runs his hands up her back, once there's no clothing to get in the way. "What do you think... five minutes late?" he asks, kissing her.

[slayers_desire]

"Five minutes? Hey lets not rush it. We can be late at least 20 minutes."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I suppose we can be fashionably late."

[slayers_desire]

"Good. The one thing that I never want to rush is this." April purrs. Kissing him deeply again. And again.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He takes his time, falling into bed with her, kissing her pregnant belly and reaffirming his love for her. These are the moments that keep him going when times are tough, and any opportunity to create new memories to cherish is a wonderful one.

There is nothing better in this world than reaffirming her marriage with Clark. And she enjoys every second of it.

The memories will last forever.

And afterwards, she finally gets dressed into a nice white dress.

Part of him wants to just stay in bed with her, but this celebration is far too important, and he's eager to see what kind of traditions the vampire community has in store for April. So he chooses an outfit that borders on business casual, not wanting to feel underdressed but not overly formal either.

"Do you know if this is going to be an all-night party?" he asks as he combs his hair into place.
