April was excited. She just received a text from Sophie, the pregnant vampire that lived in a vampire-centric dimension. The twins were arriving, and an invitation was extended to April and Clark to attend the ceremony. To witness this moment for their own eyes...

An important thing to witness, especially as April was pregnant herself and anxious to learn about vampire births.

Hopefully Clark was available. April picks up the phone to call him at work.

"Certainly." And it will help teach him things that he might have to use when it comes time for their own baby to be born.

The men leave to get the fans, and help cool the room down. April stays to help Sophie through the stages of labor. She is not quite there yet, it could be a long night.

"We also bring up blood. Both mother and child will need it." Mykal added.

Clark nods, having expected that. "I want to do anything I can do to help." He knows April feels the same way. And both of them will be learning very different things from this experience.

"If it'll help," he adds as they get the fans, "I have an ability that allows me to breathe out cooler air than I take in. If it gets to be too much, I could use it for her."

"Now that would be useful. We don't use a lot of electricity here... not needing light as much as others do." Mykal chuckles.

((storm coming, signing off for night))

"Just call me your walking air conditioner," Clark says with a small smile, as they return to the birthing room.

((I should be getting to bed about now myself, so good night! Hope the storm isn't too bad))

April was busy trying to keep Sophie cool by pressing a damp cloth on her forehead. The vampiress in question had deep-red eyes by now, and she was breathing quite heavily.

"Welcome back."

"Sorry we took so long," Clark says, and he's already begun the conscious effort of cooling the air in his lungs, not quite the arctic blast that he's capable of, but with every exhale he fans a little more cooled air towards Sophie.

Sophie is surprised by the first blast of air, but then sighs gratefully. "Mmmm amazing man."

"Yes. Yes he is." April grins.

"Let me know if it gets too cold," Clark says with a smile. After all, it wouldn't do to freeze the poor woman on accident. He's far more used to using this ability in combat or other Blur situations, rather than gently maintaining one temperature, but it doesn't seem like it'll be too hard.

For the next couple of hours, the goal is to keep Sophie comfortable. It is not until much later, when her first hunger attack occurs. She starts thrashing immediately. Clawing at the air, and scratching anyone that gets too close.

Mykal seems to know what to do, and pins her by the shoulders. April steps back, her eyes dark as she senses the emotions.

Clark is a lot slower to react, unsure of what to do, and decides to hold her down at the hips, afraid of hurting her babies or hindering labor, but not wanting her to hurt herself or others.

Mykal and Clark are able to keep Sophie from thrashing too much with their actions, and that gives time for a couple of vampires to arrive some blood for her.

April meanwhile moves forward again, "Something is... not right."

Clark takes her at her word immediately. He trusts her instincts, and he trusts her voices. "April?"

((fine with me, I have stuff to do to get ready for the trip))

"I think... the babies are hungry... they are so close to being born, that they will require food once they are received."

"I think you might need to send your people for more blood," Clark tells Mykal, unsure of whether Sophie will have consumed it all by then or not.

Mykal gestures to his men to do so. He looks back at April, as if waiting for something. She doesn't notice...

She is busy placing her hands on Sophie's belly. "I think I can help them..."

"Do what you can." And if Mykal or Sophie want to object, he knows they will.

Using her powers, April reaches out and touched the new minds of the babies. She carefully eases their hunger, without applying too much control. It is a difficult task... too much of her powers and the babies would bond with her instead of their mother. Not enough and the babies might not survive their first hunger frenzy.

The emotions from the babies are almost overwhelming... and she wonders if this is what it feels like for strangers... what would it be like for her own child when she is in labor?

Clark can do little more than watch, and wait, helping to keep Sophie still as she's supplied with blood.

More blood is delivered, and the first baby is finally ready to be born. It is a better birth than it could have been, as April's powers did help ease the child's hunger.

The first baby is cleaned and given to Mykal, as they wait for the second.

"It is a boy..." Mykal whispers.

((no problems, I know it is a busy weekend for both of us))

"Congratulations," Clark says, although labor isn't over yet, and there's still plenty of room for things to go wrong. "You're doing great, Sophie."

((finally got the mobile wifi working, sort of))

It will take another couple of hours before the next child is born. Once again April has to use her powers to calm the hunger of the child. And this time... when the baby is delivered, Mykal smiles again. "A girl..."

Sophie calls for more blood as she slowly recovers. And April feels the hunger too.

Clark can sense his wife's hunger, over the bond. And he isn't sure whether she wants to feed on him in front of them, or partake in their own blood supply. "You all right?" he asks quietly, touching her arm.

April wraps her arms around him, growling softly. Do you have any Kryptonite on you? Sophie needs this blood they have brought?

No. But I can get it with my PINpoint. He doesn't want April to have to take from Sophie and the babies either.
