the calvary arrives in Smallville

It was time to mount a rescue effort in Kansas. After losing Clark to the Phantom Zone, April had helped Lionel get back to the safety of his mansion, and then had disappeared to the Nexus. Where she was able to find a couple of people who wanted to help keep the peace.

PINpointing back to the farmyard with her allies, April waited for everyone to get settled. Then she took a breath, and gave them a briefing. "So basically right now we have mass public panic, no technology is working, and there are several friends of Clark's that are missing."

"We have two enemies that we need to be concerned about," April pulls out two artist renditions. "The first is Brainaic, a Kryptonite supercomputer who has been posing as Professor Milton Fine. He has all the Kryptonian powers of flight, strength, speed and healing... but isn't affected by Kryptonite. Meteor rock. He can also shapechange. Chloe, you will go with Alice, Victor Van Dort, Doc and Marty to find Brainaic. Also do what you can for those innocents who need to be saved from this chaos. You will also need to find Martha Kent and Lois Lane, as they are both missing."

"The second is General Zod, who has taken possession of Lex Luthor. Once again Zod has all the Kryptonian powers, and I am not sure if meteor rock will affect him. I haven't had a chance to test it."

"Victor Allen and I will try to find Zod, as we have more experience with dealing with crazy Kryptonians. We will also look for a way to bring Clark out of the Phantom Zone."

"I am going to give each of you a piece of Kryptonite, just in case. And hopefully we can figure out a way to get through this situation." April took a breath. Hoping that their little plan would work for the better good.

((this will be a split thread. Alice and Her gang will go off with Chloe to deal with Brainaic. Victor Allen and April will deal with the Clark issue))

"Lana. You are a strong woman. You will be fine here." April replies softly. "We will make sure that we come back for you when this situation is fixed."

"So you're putting me in time-out?" Lana's a bit offended here. She doesn't know that April is a vampire, that Victor is a superhero in her free time, doesn't understand that they're both more knowledgeable and more capable than she is. "The whole world's falling apart. I want to help."

"Gosh, no, that isn't it. It's just that we took the same self-defence class, and we both know inside players. I don't mean any disrespect. Sometimes the best thing you can do when the world's falling apart is stay safe, so that the people who love you still have you when the dust clears."

"Staying here will help Lana. If we find others, we will send them to you. And you can take care of them from the safety of Lionel's office."

"We need a reliable person to run our safehouse. And that's you."

Lana clearly doesn't believe them, but she's not sure what else she can do. "And what if someone finds me?"

Victor taps her bottom lip. "The chances that anyone'll come up to a top floor are really low. If they do, they'll look around the perimeter of the floor, bigger offices with a lot of glass, where you can see into it. They'll want to go into labs, where there'll be valuable equipment, not offices. We'll find you a smaller office than Lionel's, which might be searched just on the basis that it's Lionel's. And that's all if anyone comes up here at all, which I think is seriously unlikely."

April is feeling a little drained dealing with Lana. They definitely can't take her with them, because that would mean continued lying. And having to keep secrets from one member of the party would make things difficult

She searches through her bag, and then pulls out a small dagger. "Here. Arm yourself. That way you can defend yourself. You are not going to be left in a dangerous situation Lana."

"Fine." She's at least appreciative that she gets something to defend herself with, although any other time she might wonder where April got it. And she's still not thrilled at being left alone in the middle of a city that's tearing itself apart. But they don't have a lot of options.

"I owe you a serious coffee when this whole mess is over. I swear, I'm not trying to be a huge jerk, it's just the issue that we're in, unless you know the guts of the situation, it's too messy." She leads the way down the stairs, holding onto the banister (ow-ow-ow, okay, ow). Then jogs to a more central office, unlocked. "Might be good?"

The chosen office seems like a good place. No one would know to find Lana there unless previously directed. And once they have left the other woman in her safehouse, they can move onto other things.

Alone with Victor again, April pulls out her PINpoint. "Lets go see Lionel."

Stepping into the portal that is creating, April feels relieved that at least they won't have to lie around Lionel. "He has been protecting Clark as Jor-El's oracle. And knows about my telepathic gifts. We might be able to get a better lead off him."

Victor does the same, taking a deep breath, steadying her mind once more, getting out of liar mode. "Now that we're alone... is there anything I can do for your burns?"

"I need blood to allow my vampiric healing to get to work."

"Well, uh. I got some to spare," Victor says, getting out an antiseptic wipe for April to use on her skin, where she chooses.

"Drinking from you Victor might put you at a disadvantaged state." April warns. She wants them both to feel ready for what lies ahead. And she has gone without healing before.

"I can heal the wounds later. When we have more time."

"I'm okay. I used to donate blood, and I'm well fed and well rested. So long as you don't take too much, I should be okey dokey. I want you at tip-top shape, too."

A good point. Taking a moment to use the antiseptic wipe on Victor's wrist, April carefully takes a little of her friend's blood. Just enough to encourage her vampiric healing to get to work.

"That should be enough."

"Okay, awesome." Victor barely winces, she's used to handling a lot worse. She's taking hormone pills, and the sort of painkillers that don't cause addiction, and a lot of coffee, if April can tell such things.

All of those things are revealed to April through Victor's blood. The effects give April a slight boost, something better than most human's blood. Not the same as drinking Clark's blood... but it will make things easier.

Now heading towards the portal and Lionel, April is glad to note that the burns are starting to heal. "Zod did give us the truth of the Phantom Zone."

"That sucks. But that's okay, though. We'll figure out a way to get him out." She grabs a large bandaid out of the outer side pocket of her backpack, always the outer side pocket so they're easy to nab, holds it in her teeth and opens it with her free hand, smoothing it over the marks.

"You and me Victor. We are Clark's Angels. We will get him out of this." April smiled briefly. Trying to regain her hope through this experience.

Through entering the portal, they were now in Luthor mansion, where April had last left Lionel. She called out for him, "Lionel? Its April. I brought a friend to help us."

"In the study," Lionel calls out. He's at Lex's desk, trying to do something - anything - with the laptop that started this all. The Kryptonian knife is laid out next to him.

She smiles back at her, reassuringly. Oh, she's sure it'll be fine. It has to be.

As for Lionel, she balks for a moment (mansions throw her off kilter, even though James lives in one) and she waves sheepishly. "Hi. I'm Vic. The backup."

"Victor, this is Lionel Luthor. And Lionel, Victor." A quick introduction.

"We were sort of hoping you might know a thing or two about Phantom Zones. Zod told us a few unpleasant things." April is glad they can do the direct approach (for the most part) with Lionel Luthor.

Lionel looks up at them, a strange sort of look on his face. "I wish I could, but my connection with Jor-El and the Fortress is gone. I can't feel his presence anymore. Ever since that light... the one that brought Zod here. All I know is what I knew before."

"Nice to meet you." Then: "Oh, okay. Okay, that's still alright, we can still look for other sources of information."
