For the Watcher and the Slayer, things returned to schedule after the weekend, after Rain had been able to slay his very first Demon. And by this time, Rain's body and mind would have adjusted to the hours and the dedication. He would discover that he felt stronger. That he was able to destroy more evil vampires during the night in his world.

Of course, the fact that his difference was much stronger than before, it brought attention to his part of the world. There was the wrong kind of attention, that Rain was not aware of yet, but would have to face in the future.

Tonight, however, it was a different kind of attention that sought Rain out. He had just finished slaying five vampires, at the same time, and had been dusting himself off. When he heard a cough from behind him. The woman who stood there had been there... for who knew how long. She seemed familiar, in a way, but he could not place her name right away with how the night hid her face from sight so far.

"So..." She lit a cigarette. Her face familiar under the flame, it was Faith. The Slayer who had come after Buffy, and had a difficult road herself. "No longer a potential, you are earning your own stripes in life."

Rain was a bit startled. He didn't really recognize her at first as it was dark and he hadn't seen her face as many times as he had seen Buffy's. How much had she seen?

"And you are?" He asked curiously, keeping his distance.

Faith shook her head, taking a long drag of her cigarette. "Sheesh none of you potentials know who I am."

"But I betcha you know who Buffy is."

"You're right. I do know who Buffy is." He moves a little closer to get a better look. Then he tries to remember his dreams. After a moment..."Faith, right?"

"Right kid." Faith chuckled. "Good to see a potential doing so well for themselves."

Kid? He thought. He was going on twenty.

"Thanks." He said. "But how do you know how I'm doing?" He didn't say it sarcastically, he wondered if someone was watching him.

Rain tried to shake April, then turned back to Faith and called. "Actually, C'mere, grab the other end of this." he was taking the whole coffin, those runes might be important.

Coming towards him, Faith looked at the coffin, then him. "Why we saving a vampire?"

"Because she's not a vampire. She's half vampire, has a soul and is my Watcher. I have no idea why or how she's here but I'm not leaving without her."

Faith gave him a confused look. But then again, she was weary of Angel at first. Picking up the other end of the coffin, Faith coughed because of the smoke.

"How do we get this beast of a coffin out of here?"

"It sounded like a complaint." April rid Rain of the towel.

"Yeah.. that's unlikely to ever happen." he said, lifting to make it easier to pull the towel out.

"I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of your trust fund." he says, getting up to look for their toys. But with the schedule he was on, he hardly even had time for a social life let alone a job.

Moving to lie on the bed, April smiled softly. "You are not taking advantage of it. Mother said she wanted the money to go to a good reason. And providing for the Slayer is a good reason. Buffy had her mother and Giles. You have me."

"Seems to me, I got the better deal." he picked up the collar, leash and whip. He tossed them on the bed. He was feeling more tender than dominant right now as they had shared something so intimate, but he would be glad to try.
