darkness comes when she sleeps ((Smallville))
Returning to her apartment after hanging out with Kairos, April found another white rose at her doorstep. The gifts continued to be a pleasant discovery. Especially since the young woman was still under the perception that they were gifts from her boyfriend.
The vase in the kitchen was getting too small now that she had three roses. So she found a slightly bigger vase and moved the flowers into her bedroom. And took a moment to appreciate their smell, before turning in for the night.
Three hours later, April woke with a start. Her eyes glowed red, as she searched around the apartment for something that wasn't there. A frustrated growl crossed her lips. The vampire had been awakened. And it had several desires to fulfill.
Getting out of bed, she dressed and grabbed her PINpoint. There was one place where April would find what she desired right now. Smallville. And with a press of a button, she had teleported to the small Kansas town. No one had seen the portal appear, as she had been smart enough to ensure that it had been in an out of way location.
Entering Smallville, April noted that time was slightly different. It had been quite late at night at her apartment, but here the sun was just setting. The revelation gave the vampire a smile, after all it meant more night to play with. She heard music from a close by coffee shop, and turning moved down the street and entered The Talon.

From this pose, it's easy to pick her up as carefully as he would handle a newborn calf, and he carries her the short distance to the couch, setting her down gently. The blankets and pillow carry his scent, and the cushions are slightly depressed in the shape of his body from weeks of sleeping there.

Tired, April will fall asleep quickly. For the most part her sleep is restful, and those few times that she wakes up because of the haunting visions, it does her soul good to see Clark standing guard.
The waking suddenly only happens twice. And by the next time she awakens, it is the natural start of the morning.

"Morning handsome."

He's a little tired from staying up all night, but what sunlight is touching his skin is slowly re-energizing him.

Moving from the couch, April walks over to him and gently touches his face. "How about you?" Clark too had a rough night and she is concerned for his wellfare.

His dad got up an hour ago, before sunrise, and is already outside feeding the livestock. But not before pausing to let Clark know that it's okay if he doesn't do his chores until a little later in the day.
Clark is still upset over Alicia's death, but it has mostly been pushed aside by his concern for April. Both her physical health as well as her emotional state, and the fate that is going to find her soon. He feels better, knowing that she's here under his protection, and even with the glorious rising of the sun he's dreading having to let her go back. He's had all night to think about it, listening to her breathe and knowing that he can't shield her forever.

She moves forward. Into his arms. "Have I ever told you how much strength you give me, even when you are not physically in the vicinity?"
More than Clark realizes, he will be her strength when she needs it most.

"I'd rather be with you in person," he murmurs. "But I feel better knowing that I help you anyway, when I'm not there."
He pulls back a little, not letting go of her completely, but enough so he can look her in the eyes. "You'll still be here when I get back?"
no subject
"I am not going anywhere today."
no subject
"Good. I'll be back in about twenty minutes." The work that Clark does in twenty minutes would keep five men occupied for hours. Without their alien son helping keep the farm running, the Kents would either lose the farm or be forced to hire extra farmhands to help.
"Lois probably won't be up for another hour, but Mom's cleaning upstairs and Dad's out with the cows, so if you need anything, just ask. Or give me a shout." There's no way he won't still be listening, even from the other side of their land.

"I am going to shower." Even though she will be wearing the same clothes twice, there is always something appealing about a warm shower in the morning. "And if I run into any troubles, don't worry I know how to call for you."
no subject
Even though he knows she's perfectly safe and happy, it's so hard to turn around and walk out the door after standing guard all night. Fortunately the warm sunlight is distraction enough, and he strips off his jacket to maximize skin surface area while he speeds off to the fields to check the fences, keeping one ear attuned to the sounds inside the house.

Entering the bathroom, she strips down, runs the water and steps into the warm water. It feels good on her skin. It seems to wash away all her fears.
She will be careful to conserve water, just in case there are any issues in that regards. But still have enough time to lather, rinse and repeat.

Martha herself is downstairs making coffee and a modest breakfast. Breakfast in the Kent house is more of a come-eat-when-you're-ready event than a family occasion, since they all often have different schedules, but oftentimes they choose to eat together when it's already been made.

After drying her hair, April comes downstairs and smiles in appreciation to the smells of breakfast. "Good morning Martha."
no subject
And, after noticing that she's wearing the change of clothes, offers, "If you're going to stay awhile, you can put your clothes in the hamper at the end of the hall. I'm going to run a load of laundry after breakfast."
no subject
"Oh that would be greatly appreciated, they need a good cleaning." April looks around the kitchen. "Can I do anything to help?"
no subject
"Jonathan should be taking a break soon. And Clark won't be long." She smiles a little. "Lois will drag herself downstairs sooner or later." The smell of coffee may entice her out of bed soon, at least.
no subject
"Hopefully I don't have to field too many questions from Lois." April smiled. Clark's opinion rubbing off on her. Questions from his parents, on the otherhand, would be answered as best as she can. She knows they most likely still have concerns from last night.
