Rested after a good night sleep
It was amazing how much difference one good night of sleep could make. Especially since that sleep had been thanks to Clark holding her, and finally being able to talk to him about intimacy.
That one good night had led to a couple more, and today April was feeling 100 per cent better. And because of her good mood, had spent the better part of the afternoon making phone calls, arranging some details, and basically had a nice surprise all lined up for Clark.
All that was needed was the guest of honor. So she would give him a call.

Hey, he's checking out her bones. It's more than fair. Granted, he can't see any other level of x-ray vision with his heat vision acting up, but still.

"How you handling, handsome?"

He sets down again, carefully, avoiding stepping on her feet or cracking the floor. He likes her apartment, and has no desire to see it broken.
He feels exposed, the gentle eddies of air created by her movement swirling against Kryptonian skin, so minuscule as to be unnoticeable to humans, and he shivers with something that isn't cold. "Be a lot better if I could see your face instead of just your skull," he says, a hint of longing in his voice, and he touches her face in return. It is a rather nice skull, though. It keeps her brain safe, and he likes it to stay that way.

"Had we been floating?"
no subject
"Little bit, yeah. Didn't even know I was doing it." He hasn't subconsciously floated like that since freshman year, not when he's awake.
no subject
"Was that because of us being intimate?"

"I don't know. Maybe. You make me feel..." He doesn't know what word could possibly encompass the depth of emotion he's experienced today. For any mortal man, the word invincible might have sufficed. But Clark knows exactly what that feels like, and this is so different.
Without his shirt on, he can feel the gentle press of the protection charm against his bare skin, a constant reminder of her feelings for him. He never takes it off. "You make me feel special."

The word alone strikes a chord in him, deep and terrible, and above all things in his life, Clark has always been desperately lonely. First for being a freakish outsider, then finding out he's an alien, then the last of an entire species, he's never imagined anyone could feel more isolated. And while there is no replacing Krypton, no replacing his people, his parents have worked to fill in the gaps as best as they can. And now he has her in his life, helping to fill the lonely pit in his life.
He feels a burning in his eyes that has nothing to do with heat vision. "Seeing Krypton today... it did something to me. I feel more whole, more than I've ever been. All because of you."

"I am glad we met. I love you so much."

He's progressed past feeling only the purely physical, and he takes a chance, opening those blue eyes and looks into hers, gold light receding back into the depths of his pupils. "I don't know where I'd be without you."

"Your rune centers me. Keeps me in a good place. Near you."

"I didn't note any strength issues. Just the heat vision. And the floating."

"I want to be with you. All of you."

Yeah. This is definitely better than staring at the wall all evening.

Because with a shirtless Clark at her availability, she is going to be touching him. And it might return to dealing with heat vision. But that is the point of this. To find a way to give Clark control.
