nursing wounds in an open field
Still in shock, April held onto Clark as he speed her to an open, quiet field. It was better than the Nexus, with less emotions off randomly passing people. And there was a familiarity in Clark's worried emotions and thoughts.
Her breathing was slowing down to a normal pace. The first concern would be the cut, which still had not healed with her abilities. April knew she had to explain, somehow.
"Poison. On her nails..."

"Poison. On her nails..."

Her mention of poison has his heart racing even more than it was. "It's not fatal, is it?"

"Try to stop the bleeding." She trusts him. Always.

"... your blood is different from humans. This is true." April shivers slightly. But she too would rather not risk anything happening to him. "...I do not know if I could."

"If I try to stop the bleeding and it doesn't work, you have to use me." If he was a normal guy, he'd be shaking all over just at the thought of doing either one. "I can't lose you."

Her mind knows he is worried and scared. And wants to protect her. "To take your blood, I would still have to bleed the poison out."
no subject
"This won't be like last time. You can't move at all, not even a twitch. And you have to keep breathing normally." One tiny unanticipated movement and he could do even worse damage. He can only hold her so still without risking hurting her just from his hands.
no subject
And it had been hard not to move last time. "Immobilization... paralyzation... trigger a pressure point... should keep me still."
no subject
"Okay. I... okay. Give me a second." He's going to be performing microsurgery with a sledgehammer. So he takes a moment to fully, thoroughly, completely map out the wound in the most microscopic detail that he can manage. He's only going to get one good shot at this, and he doesn't want to fuck it up. While he looks, he uses one hand to carefully nudge hers aside, replacing it. The other hand hovers above his chosen pressure point. He lets out a shaky breath. "Ready?"
no subject
"Ready..." She whispers. And then takes in a breath, and stills her breathing.

He takes a moment to make sure she's completely immobilized, then begins the careful and dangerous work of burning a razor-thin line down her neck. He doesn't even dare to blink, eyes locked on every millimeter of the ragged edges of the cut.

But the cut is getting closed.
no subject
She already seems to have lost a lot of blood, and even though he's closing the cut like zipping it shut, more blood is escaping as he's forced to release the pressure in order to get line of sight access.

And her body sinks deep into the hunger need.

He's twigged to the fact that her elevated heartrate isn't just from pain, but he can't stop to find out what's wrong. He has to finish before the paralysis wears off, and before she needs to breathe again. Not to mention he isn't sure if he'll be able to bring himself to start again.

The hunger singals an inner battle between Beast and April. The Beast wants to free herself and feed. While April knows she has to stay in this state, just a little longer. Clark only has to make it a couple of more seconds.
no subject
He's almost exhausted by the time he finally finishes, eyes nearly aching from the strain of such fine detail work for so long.
no subject
"Clark..." It is a half-growl of his name.

But April finds the strength to fight for control. "No... not without permission." And the eyes return to their natural hue.
With the cut closed now, because of his efforts, her body starts to work on neutralizing the poison. She feels weak from the blood loss, and the pain, and still feeling his emotions.
