dinner date with Clark

April was still up on Cloud Nine, after she and Clark had started to officially be girlfriend and boyfriend. And tonight, she had a thought that since their 'first date' had been not quite real due to a de-aging LOL that she would make him dinner for an official first date.

The menu was simple enough, because even though April looked to cook and create, she still had inherited some unfortunate cooking accidents from her mother. She had selected Italian-flavored dishes to serve tonight. Shrimp and Pesto Linguine, Mushroom and Onion Frittata, and Strawberry bellini for dessert.

The dishes were light enough for summer time, easy enough to follow, and were smelling quite delicious by the time April had set the table. Also set at the table, on Clark's plate, was a small gift-wrapped package.

All that remained was to wait for Clark to arrive.

The Princess Bride is a much more cuddlable movie than the previous film, and this time he doesn't hesitate quite so much to take her into his arms and lean his head against hers. It's a little different than the version he remembers, especially the blond-haired Wesley, but the story's the same. Fencing, fighting, revenge, miracles, true love.

Clark isn't sure if he knows what true love really is. He's never found a fairytale relationship that works. It's complicated, sometimes messy, sometimes an emotional rollercoaster that never seems to come into the station. It's nothing like the movies and it's rarely happily-ever-after. But he's willing to give it a shot.

Cuddling with Clark watching The Princess Bride is a perfect way to complete their official first date. April is content in his arms.

She has been careful with her heart until now, but truly feels that her and Clark could face whatever life throws at them and make it out together. It isn't a fairytale. It is a real relationship. A strong one.

"Thank you, for tonight," he says once the credits roll, and drops a kiss on her forehead. "This has been one of the best nights of my life."
