friendly visit with Kairos

April knows that there are tons of things on her mind these days. The baby takes up the majority of her thoughts, as she continues to plan and prepare for the birth. It won't be long before the actual birth of the baby, and there is so much to do.

But it is also important to her to visit her friends. And today, she is bringing a batch of cookies to Kairos (who she had not seen in a while).

Forgive me for walking April about some?

Luckily, April brings those cookies to Kai's home art studio - which is still on the property, but a little removed from the main house. The door is open (as there's a great breeze, and Kai loves the scent of dying leaves) so April's entirely welcome to walk on in.

Kairos doesn't initially see April, but soon the scent of fresh cookies invades and Kai's stomach reminds her she hasn't eaten since breakfast.

"Hey!" she chirps. First she sees the plate...and then she sees the stomach. "Holy--" She's staring a little bit. "You've been busy!"

April laughes. "Yes. We have."

"Cookies?"

"You are a goddess. Cookies." She pulls April into a kitchen-y area, where there's a small table and chairs and a small fridge. "Sit down, you're pregnant, woman!"

"In my third trimester. The cooking, cleaning and nesting stage." April does take the offered seat.

[kairosaether]

"Third trimester? Lord, where's the time gone?" Kai's a little shocked. "M'sorry, I've been so preoccupied.."

[slayers_desire]

"The Smallville dimension does move slightly faster than others. Nexus time, Clark and I were only married in January. But more time has passed for us."

((I have to go soon myself!))

"...It's good to know I'm not going entirely bonkers," Kairos says with a smile. She walks over to the fridge and pours two small glasses of milk. "Did you decide to learn the sex of the child?"

"No. We have names chosen. Jon if it is a boy. Laura if it is a girl."

[kairosaether]

"Those are lovely names. Do you have a preference?" Kairos knows she'd never be able to choose. "...And where do I find a baby registry at?"


((Sorry about the delay. I felt bad, then my sister went to the hospital, and I'm doing holiday crafting - the days got away from me!))

"Oh I will be happy as long as the baby is healthy."

""We have set up a registry in both the Smallville dimension, and one in the Nexus for others to access. I can give you a PINpoint address."

[kairosaether]

"The address would be great. I'm sure Connor and I will come up with something unique" - she smiles here and rolls her eyes - "You know the two of us. You'll let us know if there's anything specific you need, yes?"

"Maybe a good strong crib. Depending on abilities the baby inherits."

[kairosaether]

"Oh, goodness. Watching him or her grow up will be just fascinating, don't you think?" And for a moment, Kairos feels a little ping of sadness.

[slayers_desire]

"I feel so unready some times. And so excited other times."

[kairosaether]

"Well, it's your first child, right? That sounds about right."

[slayers_desire]

"Our first. A whole new adventure. And I am so glad to have Clark to do it with."

[kairosaether]

"We're both very lucky, don't you think?" She glances down at April's stomach. "I still can't believe it! You're so blessed."


((Ugh. Sorry. Sick household.))

"We are so blessed. And there is so much stuff that still needs planning. Stuff that needs purchasing."

[kairosaether]

She nods knowingly - her own sister is pregnant, after all. "Well, you'll just have to tell us if we can help with anything. I know my sister felt overwhelmed at everything that needs to be done."

[slayers_desire]

"I think furniture buying is such a... uncertainty for me. The sad thing is that I don't do lists, not like Clark does, and my brain is so... distracted all the time right now."

[kairosaether]

"Because of the uncertainties of what the child might inherit? Or are you really uncertain as to whether you should buy just a regular crib versus one that doubles as fifty other things?"

[slayers_desire]

"Well we don't know what the child will inherit. But there are also hundreds of items out there for a new mother to buy. It is so overwhelming at times."

[kairosaether]

"The Internet is a great tool. Maybe go to blogs that can help you decide what is necessary and what is just .. well, a waste of money?"

[slayers_desire]

"And we are fortunate that we have access to the Nexus."

[kairosaether]

"Mmmhm. Goodness, whatever would we do without it, right?"

[slayers_desire]

"It will be a whole new world for the baby to explore."

[kairosaether]
