distractions for an concerned Watcher

For the most part, the last week of training with Rain had gone as normal, and the only thing out-of-ordinary had been the invitation to supper with April's mother. And it had been the conversation over the dinner table that sparked a little worry for April, knowing that her mother had to deal with threats from someone wishing her harm in Gotham.

Harley had urged that April just continue with her life as usual and not put any more thought into the news. Something that was easier said than done.

So to distract herself today, April thought that it was a good time to invite Nate over, and have him spar a little with Rain. At least it was better than sitting around and worrying -- which she had been doing for the last couple of moments while Rain meditated. So she send Nate a text message and hoped that he would soon respond and arrive.

"This is real." His mother reassures him.

"We are dead, but there are ways to open the gate into the dead worlds. And that is what has happened here." His father says. And little Eve just reaches up to touch his face.

"But.... how?" He gapes as Eve's hand moves toward him and he's reduced to a quivering, sobbing wreck in his parents arms when Eve touches him. "I d-didn't know I was a s-slayer. I didn't know how to fight them.. I couldnt... *sniff* save you..." He was emotionally damaged and careening off the deep end.

For Nate, he would notice a brief sound from the computers, which brought April's attention to it. She stood, glanced at the monitor, and touched it softly. "I hope he understands..."

"Nate... you have to do me one more favor..."

For Rain, both his mother and father wrap their arms around him tighter. "It was not your fault, Rain. There was nothing that anyone could done. We are just grateful that you were not harmed. And that you continue to live."
