future!verse: balances of being a heroes wife
Future!Verse fiction
Some of April's worries about how Clark's battle with Zod would end were not unfounded, but somehow they were able to survive another difficult trial. It took time to heal and move forward. The world continued to need its hero. And April was learning how to balance her time with Clark, and respecting his duties to his destiny.
When they learned that April was with child, it was a joyous moment. Of course, in a way Clark and April had been parents before, when Evan entered their lives. It had been difficult to lose him. And those memories returned to the surface when there were some concerns to the pregnancy, and its risks when the baby developed some of the abilities of its parents.
The proceeding months had been an adjustment, with April having to be more careful. And not getting too spoiled by her loving husband, who worried so much when he had to answer a call for help and leave her alone at heart. She loved him truly, and knew that people in need of rescuing often took priority. So she always told him, "We are in your heart and in your mind. Your strength will still be with us, even if you are not at our side. Go my love."
It was the same phrase she had told Clark when they had Evan in their lives. It was still as true then as it was now. Even more so. Beside Clark always came home to her and their unborn child. They were a family. And a strong and connected family.
