Rome adventures: open to Clark and Xander
April felt blessed in the fact that she was getting closer to Clark's family in Smallville. Especially since every time she visited with Martha and Jonathan, she could sense their approval and that they were glad she made Clark happy. It was so important to her to share more of her world with Clark in return, and introduce him to someone from the Buffyverse.
So after deciding on Xander, April first sat down with the older man and explained about her visits to the Nexus. And how she had made several friends there. And how she started dating someone from another universe. And that she would like to introduce her boyfriend to Xander.
With those basics covered, April was ready to contact Clark and invite him back to Rome. This time to meet someone from her world. And waiting for Clark to arrive, April felt a couple of butterflies in her stomach. She just hoped that Xander and Clark would get along alright.

Xander rolls his eyes.
"Oookay lovebirds. I may be older, but my hearing works just fine. If you two wanna go be... frisky or.. whatever, don't let me stop you but I don't wanna hear about it." Xander grins.

Giving Xander a look, April countered. "Like you and Anya are any better. She talks about sex like its... normal." That was a weird ending, but her point was made.

He looks a little more embarrassed as April says the s-word. While he's getting less shy about it with her, he's not so great about talking about it front of people he's barely met. Or anyone else in general, really. Though his parents got a pass on that when his heat vision first started up, and that was awkward but necessary.

"And... now I'm talking about sex in front of Superman and that's just freaking me out."
no subject
"Then how about either of you bring up a question for the other. I can't be the only one thinking of brilliant conversation starters."

What do you ask the man of steel?
"Do you find any of your powers are as much a curse as a blessing? Like, any that are hard to control? When you help people are you ever scared that adrenaline is going to make you maybe squeeze a little too tight or forget that normal people are squishier than you are?"
no subject
She will set the refreshments on the coffee table, so they don't have to move their conversation from the living room area. It will interesting to see if Clark includes his troubles with heat vision in his answer or not.

"So it was like "Superpuberty" for you or something? Wow. In the old-school comics, that version of you had powers from the time he was a baby. There were even Superbaby and Superboy comics. Sounds like you got the rough end of the deal. Has your mom made you the suit yet?"
no subject
"He doesn't believe me when I told him that he looks good in tights."
no subject
He nudges April at her comment. "That's because I don't. And no, I do all my supersaves in my street clothes. Preferably at speed so no one sees."
no subject
"Does magic affect you? It's one of your weaknesses in the comics. You don't have many, but that's one of em."
no subject
She will allow Clark the chance to defend himself, and answer the magic question.
no subject
"Magic most definitely affects me. I ran into some back home and ended up having to take on three of my friends, who were possessed by medieval French witches, after they stripped me of my powers." And he was armed only with a shotgun. Thank God he didn't need it. "And April and I tested it out with this universe's brand of magic too. Works like a charm." If you'll pardon the horrible, horrible pun.

Xander groans. "Ooooh. I see superpuns don't come with the power package."
no subject
And if they can break the Lois+Clark=Love issue, maybe this Clark is not meant to wear the blue-and-red Superman outfit.
"Using magic empowered weapons is the only way I can fight fair against this guy. He and I have sparred once or twice. And I have been helping him with the flying issue."
no subject
"I kind of half-fly right now. Well, kind of... hover. I'd do great as a glider but powered flight is still a no-go. Speaking of which," he adds, a little hesitantly, "I never asked you more about that vision of me and the missile." It wasn't really a good time when she'd had it.

((I must be off to bed, so I shall free you two up :) ))

Hugging Xander back, she whispered, "Thank you." And gave him a friendly ruffle of his hair before he escaped from the living room.
Turning to face Clark, April recalled her vision. "It wasn't much. Just you perched on a missle that was heading out of the atmosphere, into space. And that it would happen soon. Was... was that why you were upset earlier?"
((ooc: goodnight Xander-mun. Thanks for your involvement))
no subject
"It was good to meet you," he says politely. Xander may not be one of her relatives, but he is one of her friends, and someone important enough to her that she wanted them to meet. And just for the sake of friendliness instead of preparing for future events.
He pauses for a moment at her question. "Uh, no. I was just wondering... you know, if you knew when. Or where. Or why." That sort of thing tends to make him a little nervous, especially since he isn't sure if it's a round-trip journey. "I was on the outside?"
((OOC: Seconding the thanks! Was nice threading with you! :D))

The dinner trays rocks slightly. And lifts into the air slightly.
((ooc: mun determines what she sees, as usual))

She will see Clark, in orbit with the planet far below him like an enormous jewel, with him ripping into a side panel of the missile. And Kansas, far below in the grips of a mild summer heat wave, right in the strike zone where the missile is descending. And there is a feeling of dread, not during the crisis, but just before it where something terrible is going to happen. A flash of an icy fortress, with enormous crystals like in the hologram of Krypton.
