Day meme: enough to write a love song
Day 05 – Your definition of love, in great detail
It is something I am still learning. It adapts. It evolves. Its wonderful and scary and amazing all at the same time.
My first experience with love was seeing the powerful friendship between Buffy, Xander and Willow when they had reunited in Rome. They had been through so much and still stood strong together. And what was more... they were family. I learned you could love a friend. And through more time in the Nexus I have discovered friends who I love too.
Because of my strained relationship with my father, I didn't experience the love of a family until Clark introduced me to his parents. Martha and Jonathan were so passionately protective of him. And it amazed me to see them strong at his side, willing to help him through any problems, to cover for him to protect his secret, and their worry and concern.
Their love also grows into accepting me into their lives. I have seen their worry and concern for me during difficult times. Their willingness to help me with my problems. And while they might not be directly related to me -- I feel that the starts of a family love is there.
The joys of relationship love has come into my life since I started dating Clark. We have been together for over two months and in that time have bonded so closely. Our love has been strong enough to deal with my vampiric side and the effects of him on red kryptonite. He has saved my life three times. And we have been able to teach each other new things, share in the struggles of our special abilities, and having him in my life makes me so happy.
Loving him means that I would do anything for him. When he smiles, I get this light floaty feeling in my chest. And when I am in his arms, I feel completely at peace.
To date, this relationship love has developed in good intentions. We have experimented a little with touching, but to date have not yet 'gone all the way'. Which is nice. We are taking things slow. And I have learned that relationship love can exist without sex.
And I know when we are both ready, it will be a loving and intimate moment. One that will bring our relationship to a new level. And there is so much out there waiting for both of us.
