After having a good conversation with Kairos after her last adventure in the Nexus, April decided to invite the Slyph over to spend some time. It was a good way to get to know her new friend better.

Kairos shows up on time, a small parcel in her hands. She's a little nervous, though she does her best to not show it. "Hi," she says, once she sees April.

"Hi!" April smiles at Kairos. She notices the parcel, "Come bearing gifts?"

And the nod is returned with an exuberant nod. "Mmmhm! Chocolate. A girl's best friend." Kai holds the box out. "I went easy on the coffee and the cayenne. The idea is to enhance, not showcase the add-ins. But next time, if you want, I can up the heat." Inside the box is four jumbo sized cupcakes, frosted in a dark blue cinnamon cream cheese icing. Little sugar skulls decorate the top, outlined in the same blue and accented with red. "I hope you don't mind the skulls. I was practicing."

"Oh wow they are so beautifully decorated." April smiled. "It is almost going to be a shame to eat them."

"Practicing for what?"

"Thanks! My sister owns a bakery, and occasionally I help brainstorm the recipes. I'm a jeweler and painter by trade, but I wondered if I could make the sugar skulls myself, instead of Kalyca buying them from a supplier." That would be a big fat yes. "Food's fun to play with."

"I have only started exploring with baking and cooking. I do better with sewing." April is going to take two cupcakes out, and offer Kairos one.

Kairos takes it with a low "thanks." She licks at the frosting, still a little unsure if she added too much of that cinnamon. "Which do you like better, baking or cooking?"

"Cooking. Its more experimental." April is going to find a place to set the other cupcakes down. Before taking a bite of hers. "Hey this is really tasty."

"Yeah. Me too. You can't fiddle with ingredients too much with baking or you'll make.. the Stay Puff marshmallow man or something." Kairos watches her. "Thanks. I've actually had a chance to cook since Connor's gone."

April is a cautious eater. Tidy. Polite. But there is a strange look when Kairos mentions the marshmellow man, as April tries to figure out who that is.

"Conner? Conncer MacLeod?"

Kairos ... is not. But she's trying to be ladylike, and not like a living trash compactor, so she takes little bites and licks. And even uses a small napkin instead of her fingers. "Ever see the movie Ghostbusters?"

"..Yeah." She blinks. "You know Connor?" Was she from his world?

"Not yet. I plan to." April has only been around movies for a little while.

"Yes. I met him in the Nexus. He talked to me about having trouble sleeping."

"You have trouble too?"

"I have clarivoyance. Sometimes the visions of the future awaken me."

"I hope Conner was able to get some sleep." Because April had used her powers to give the man three nights of peaceful slumber.

"I'm sorry to hear that. No one should be encumbered with that sort of thing."

"I haven't heard him, so I hope so." Which sound like he could be sleeping with her, so she adds, "But the guest room is on the other side of the house, so.." she shrugs, blushing. "He's very quiet, and I sleep like the dead.."

"I am glad to hear you are the one who provided him a place to stay."

"I was gonna take him to The Way, but .. plans change. For the better, because I really like having him stay with me." Pause. "I can make sure he actually eats and sleeps there."

April wonders briefly if perhaps it is more than ensuring that Connor slept and ate daily. But won't pry. Yet.

"I had been fortunate, when I first came to the Nexus. Someone pointed me the way to these apartments."

It is, but it's new, and pretty scary for her.

"Very. It was a long time before I realized there's pretty much a city here. In one of the dispensing machines, I won a portable apartment. It was the weirdest thing I've ever gotten. I'd probably be living in it if my sister hadn't kept the apartment we bought together while I was gone."

"The Nexus continues to astound me." April laughs. "It seems such a nice place compared to my home dimension."

"So you stay here exclusively?"

'No. I divide my time between here and my native dimension."

"Mm. I come to the Nexus to people watch. To get out some." Smile.

"What would you say is the most interesting thing you have watched?"

She grins. "Probably the autobots. We don't have anything like that back home. It's pretty interesting to see how different the alternates can be, too. Though I only know one, and she's the alternate of my good friend John Hart."
