a different experience with the future

Normally, April is granted glimpses into her future, or the future of people she cares about. And when that happens she often feels drained and tired. Today a totally different experience with the future occurred, when she talked with an older red-kryptonite influenced Clark.

The initial contact and a possessive kiss had fueled her Beast. Then after using green kryptonite to null the red, April had learned more about Clark's future.

Including things she has to tell his younger self.

Even if it wasn't a vision, April feels drained all the same. And so draws herself a bath and slips into the warm, relaxing bubbles. If older-Clark was right, then his younger self should still be contactable. She just needs to figure out the right way to explain what she saw, what happened and how to not say certain things about his future.

Using her PINpoint, she calls her Clark. And there is a moment of pure anticipation as it rings.

"From an earlier age, I was raised in a Demon dimension. Where humans were... well surviving much like that horrible vision Future-you had." April tugs at her sleeves.

"My physical enhancements were easy adapted into my training. It was a balance to learn how to use my strength, agility and speed in appropriate ways."

He shivers a little just imagining it. "God, that's awful. I'm glad you got out of there."

"I could not allow to happen what I saw, that first time. My destiny was elsewhere."

Once again, he's not sure he wants to know, but he has to ask. "What'd you see?"

"The Demons were going to take my innocence away. Mind, body and soul. Tear away at my conscience until I had no humanity left. Scar my body with their tools of torture. And force my Beast to kill me from the inside. Leaving only her behind."

Now it's his turn to hug her like she's going to disappear. "That's awful."

"The fact I changed my future makes me believe you can change yours." April whispered. Returning the hug.

"We have each others backs, to keep us strong. That makes all the difference in the world."

"Besides... what could defeat love?"

He wishes he had her confidence. Not that he doubts her resolve, or his. He's just experienced years of being kicked when he's down, enough to make him afraid of what might or might not happen.

"I sure hope you're right."

April gives him a soft kiss. "I will be here Clark. That much I do know." It wouldn't have mattered if Future-Clark didn't imply that she still had time with her Clark. She loves him.

He kisses her back. "I'll be holding you to that."

"As long as you hold me." A slight smile. They need a little happiness to end this day after all.

Moving to cuddle in his arms, April gives a contented sigh. She knows he will have to return to homework eventually. And will just cherish the time with him, until that moment.
