habitat for humanity... in another universe

There was much to do in LA, now that the zombires were defeated and removed as a threat. People in the Buffyverse universe were believing in new opportunities again. The Seed of Wonder was returning hope and creativity to everyone.

And sure, not all the threats were gone, but the world was so much safe.

Today, April and Clark were helping fix houses, collect food for families, and help return society back to normal. April enjoyed this kind of work, hands-on work that helped everyone. She couldn't stop smiling...

Perhaps it was because she always knew that her world could be safer... and now it is getting there.

"We're pretty happy for you."

"I am happy for you two." Spike picks up a bucket of nails. Then heads into the next room to fix more of the house.

April picks up a doll from the floor, dusting it off softly. "He still doesn't think he deserves a family."

"Everyone deserves a family. I wish he could see that."

[slayers_desire]

April touches his face softly. "He has had a hard life. A long one, full of regrets. It will take time, but he will get there."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"Shasta's good for him. He's softened up a bit since they got involved." He's a little worried about the lifespan difference, but hopes that they will have plenty of time together before that becomes a problem.

[slayers_desire]

"You were good for me. Every now and then, people find that right person."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

He smiles a little. "Those people are lucky."

"You always make me feel like the luckiest person in the world."

"That's because you are."

April places her arms around his neck. Just enjoying the moment for a second or two. "Do you get any breaks, Mr. Construction Man?"

"I think I can take a minute. We've made a lot of progress so far."

[slayers_desire]

"It is great to see so many people helping... the progress is going great."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"It'll take a lot of effort, but with everyone helping, I think this place will be in good shape again before too long."

[slayers_desire]

"After dealing with Wolfram and Hart, and then the loss of the Seed of Wonder, people want a place where they can appreciate what they have. A place of... remembering."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"They've more than earned it. I'm glad we can help, even though we can't fix everything."

[slayers_desire]

"So I was wondering... feel up for a little flight? I would like to look around, and maybe find a place that could be fixed up, and made suitable."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"I could... do you think people might get worried if they see a flying man, though?" With all the supernatural creatures that have been rampaging unchecked since the Seed of Wonder was destroyed, he's not sure that would be taken well. Not unless the good demons have been helping humanity in the meantime.

[slayers_desire]

"You are married to a very powerful psychic... I will make sure people don't notice you." It is not mind altering after all, something she would avoid. There is so much work to do, it would be easy to ensure people are keeping on task, instead of looking to the skies.

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"That works for me. Let me just tell Spike where we're going." He raises his voice slightly, turning towards where he saw Spike going earlier. "April and I are going scouting. We'll be back soon."

[slayers_desire]

"Sounds good..." Spike turns his head around the corner. He has paint on his clothes. But a smile on his face. "You two stay safe."

"We will. Thank you Father."

Clark nods, and turns back to April, easily sweeping her up into his arms. "Anywhere you wanted to check out first, or should I circle the area?"

[slayers_desire]

"Just circle the area. I am thinking that something on the outskirts might be more appealing then the city itself."

[kalel_ofkrypton]

"You got it." He lifts off, gaining altitude, but not so high that they can't see down below. From up here, the destruction looks worse than at ground level, seeing it all laid out below them. But at the same time, they can also see the people, working to restore and save what they can.

[slayers_desire]

It is almost shocking to see all the destruction at once... and how it is just not limited to city limits either. There is a huge world out there that is recovering right now.

This is just one city.

And they just have to work on one place at a time. April knows that.

"I almost forgot how intense this was...."

"They'll recover. And we can keep coming back to help until they do." This will probably take years to get everything back to normal, but with people all pitching in, it's not an impossible task.
