negotiating a contract ((for Clark Luthor))

After a lot of thought, and conversation with Jake in the Nexus, and Ed in his apartment, April has come to a solution for her need of Kryptonian blood right now.

And the solution does include a return to the universe of Clark Luthor.

Instead of calling ahead this time, April uses her PINpoint to appear in a closet in the LuthorCorp building, and steps out when she knows no one is around.

She is dressed in a business-like attire. And starts to make her way up to the office of Clark Luthor, ready to discuss an agreement with him.

"I would treat it like it was Clark's blood. My Clark's blood." She promises.

[clark_luthor]

"Giving this to you means that we are even. A favor for a favor." He didn't ask her to stop his former employee from attempting to kill him, though he thinks he probably would've come out of that on top regardless. Still, she made a gesture that says she's interested in his safety, even if it's only to get some of his blood. He has no problem with that if it's her only motivation - everyone wants something.

"Even?" April doesn't even clue in that he considers what she did as a favor. But she does clue in. And blinks in surprise. "Oh."

[clark_luthor]

He takes that a slightly different way. "You were expecting more?"

[slayers_desire]

"No. I wasn't expecting anything from you."

She sets down the vial of blood carefully on his desk. Then reaches out to touch his hand. "I didn't stop that man from killing you for you to owe me anything. I stopped him because I didn't want to see you hurt."

[clark_luthor]

"I suppose it would have been easy to obtain my blood if I was injured or dead."

[slayers_desire]

"No... that is not what I mean."

"Mister Luthor... Clark... I consider you a..." Friend is not the right word. "Ally. And I don't allow bad things to happen to people I care about."

"I would have been devestated if you had been killed."

[clark_luthor]

"Because I look like your husband?" He certainly doesn't act like him, and he can't think of any other reason why she would care. Even though apparently she does regardless.

[slayers_desire]

"A little bit yes." April admits. "But I also care about your well-being Mister Luthor."

[clark_luthor]

He gives her a look that says he still can't figure her out. "Will there be anything else, Mrs. Kent?"

[slayers_desire]

"No. This will be everything." April pauses, but then gives him an awkward hug. "Thank you."

[clark_luthor]

He's been hugged very few times in his life, especially since Mother died. And for a moment he's not sure how to respond, though the hesitation is more mental than physical. "You're welcome."

[slayers_desire]

April takes her vial of blood, and the bracelet back from him. This was a strange day, but she is glad things worked out the way they did.

"Goodbye Mister Luthor." She then PINpoints back home.

[clark_luthor]

"'Til next time." He has the feeling that they'll probably bump into each other again, once of these days.
