walking with the vampires

One week had passed since April had gone to her world, gotten kidnapped, and had to be rescued by Victor Allen and Clark. Things were still a jumble in April's head because of the incident. As she tried to sort out emotions from the kidnapping, and of course from the issue that caused the kidnapping -- an alternate of Clark that was raised a Luthor.

The main thing is that communication between April and her father, Spike, had improved since then. The vampire had his own PINpoint now. And it was easier for him to send brief texts.

Or randomly show up, as he had done today. Right now, he was sitting outside the farmhouse and indulging in his habit of smoking. His daughter was inside, making supper. And Clark, should be returning home shortly.

"We may have to invest in some good fingerpaints. I'm sure any child of yours will have more art skill than my side of the family."

"Fortunately that won't be something we'll need for at least a while. But if you get a baby shower, we can always put it on the gift registry."

"Don't I need to plan a baby shower to get one?"

"Unless you get one as a surprise from one of your female friends. I've never planned one so I don't know how they work." Or even whether he'd be involved; sometimes it's an event where the father is the only man there, though more often it's all women.

"I will work out some details. Right now..." April kisses him lightly, and cuddles tightly.

He smiles in agreement, and draws up the covers just a little bit more, ready to give in to sleep with her in his arms.
