a whirlwind of a month
April nervously adjusted her cap and gown in her bedroom. Trying it on the night before her big graduation. She couldn't believe that tomorrow would be her final day at university. That she would receive a diploma. And that it would open new opportunities.
She had dealt with a whirlwind of activity in the last month. First Jimmy's funeral. Then helping Chloe recover from losing her husband.
There was also a lot of time spent working on her bridesmaid dresses, and the vests for the groomsmen tuxes. In addition, her final university project was also her wedding topping. It meant that she was spending a lot of time in her craft room.
It meant a little less time with Clark. And that was another situation, with Clark now wearing the dark Blur costume. He was still dealing with some distance in his heart, but at least it was not affecting their relationship too much. Not to say the stress and sadness didn't have an effect. Their last intimate moment was the night before Doomsday was destroyed. And Jimmy and Davis both lost their lives.
But at least they still came home to each other. Spend the night in each others arms.
It was something. April sighed, touching the mirror as she looked at the final image of herself in the cap and gown. "Tomorrow I graduate..." She whispered. There were so many questions in her heart about what she would do next... about her future.

He pauses long enough to put the camera inside in a safe place, and calls up the coordinates for Kansas City on his PINpoint.

The portal drops them in an alley, out of sight of anyone, and he offers his arm to her as they emerge onto the sidewalk to find a good barbecue place.

He spies a nice looking barbecue place and guides her that way, pausing in the conversation only to speak to the employee who seats them near the big picture window looking out onto the street.

Ordering barbecue ribs and wedges for lunch, April also decides on a cocktail too. She finally is legal enough to drink, and is comfortable ordering her first alcoholic beverage ever.
