the messenger has a difficult job
Returning to her apartment, April felt a little drained. Another Zoner had been defeated, but unfortunately lives were lost and of course Clark felt responsible for that. And unfortunately, April had to deliver a couple of difficult messages.
The first was about a mysterious Level 33.1 and April still had a bad feeling about it. The second was about overhearing Lana reveal that she was pregnant, with Lex's child. And of course that news had devastated Clark.
April knew that Clark loved her. But Lana was his first love, and he still cared and worried about her. And knowing that she had an intimate relationship with Lex Luthor was something that would concern Clark for quite some time.
Their relationship had its good moments, and difficult moments. There were times when they felt so far apart, and times when they felt so close together. Right now was one of those far apart moments. The concerns of the Zoners and Lana weighed heavily on Clark... and now April.
There wasn't much she could do about the Lana situation. And that sucked. A lot.
The only thing she could do was the thing she did most often in hopeless situations... which was to paint. So April pulled out some of her materials and distracted herself with that. Perhaps good news would come soon... April just had to remain hopeful.
