dealing with the King of Hearts (tag deadgirlsliekme)

April had known something was wrong with Victor after he appeared in the question, asking about removing voices. But fortunately had been able to convince the thing that possessed Victor's body to let her help. And had brought him back to her small Kansas apartment.

"Make yourself comfortable. Would you like something to drink first?"

"Clark just wants to be ready." Both April and Clark have been warned about General Zod. And what it could be mean for their futures.

"I have developed telekinesis. It has caused trouble for me."

Dee frowns a little, but then shrugs it off as a people thing. She's still new to this, after all.

"Telekinesis?" Doc repeats. "Yeah, that's got to be tricky. I assume you're moving things without meaning to and suchlike."

"Is t-that what you did before? When the King s-started threatening to attack?" Victor adds softly.

[identity profile] slayers-desire.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. I have been able to use these gifts in attacks before. Luckily. And they helped us today."

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very much so. I would have felt h-horrible if he'd h-hurt you." Yes, he knows it wouldn't really have been his fault, but -- well, April's got a peek at his darker side. He tends to blame himself for a lot of stuff that technically isn't his fault.

Doc pats his back. "It wouldn't have been you," he reminds him. "Any of us would have known that, had it come to that."

"Bad drivers are a pain in the butt," Dee agrees. "When Biff drove me, he crashed me into things and didn't take any care at all. You should make the King pay your insurance, or however it works for people."

Victor actually laughs at this. It's short and weak, but it's a laugh. "If only I could. . . ."

[identity profile] slayers-desire.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
April can understand how a person could blame themselves for things beyond their control. She is sort of dating one of those people - as Clark seems to have the added pressure of being 'the superman' who should be able to protect people.

"Victor. I have another side of myself that sometimes get out of control. I know that it was the King saying what he did and attempting to attack me. Not you."

At least being the younger alternate of a famous superhero is stress Victor doesn't have to deal with.

"I know," Victor says, putting some strength into his voice. "It's just -- sometimes you have to r-remind yourself of that a few times." He's doing his best to think about the fact that he fought when it counted, that he didn't let the King get the better of him in the end. (And he never thought he'd be glad the Rift gave him the power that it did. . . .)

"It also helps when you have friends who know of the situation, and care enough to be your support when you need it."

"Because of the things that have happened to us in the last year of our relationship, both Clark and I now both have continuency plans. Me for when he becomes Kal or Kal-El; and him when I am in vampire mode."

"And we have friends who know of these plans. And what to do in those situations."

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Doc feels a pang of guilt there again for not noticing/commenting on the signs earlier. "I should have been there earlier," he mumbles, as a soft breeze rustles the bottom of his coat. "I should have--"

"Please don't blame yourself," Victor says. "Until today, he -- he was d-doing a good job playing me."

"Still, you're my friend," Doc says. "And my next-door neighbor."

"And you had your situation with Dee to deal with," Victor counters.

Doc can't refute that. "Yes. . . ." He sighs and has a piece of fruit. "We're here for you now, Victor. And Marty and Alice will be too. We'll think of something -- and make a plan for the next time any of us starts acting strange. I don't ever want anything like this to happen again. Frankly, it would probably be good for personality-changing LOLs too."

[identity profile] slayers-desire.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Start with a good nights rest. And all those plans will come easier in the morning. I do suggest you keep some unknown to Victor himself."

"No offense Victor. We have no idea how much the King can hear."

((away for most of the evening))

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Precisely," Doc says. "None of us can help, really, if we're all worn down from lack of sleep. We can make more solid plans once we're all properly rested."

"Oh, none taken, none at all," Victor says. He does not want the King pulling any more tricks. If that means he has no idea what the contingency plans are, so be it. He can certainly live with that.

(OOC: No problem)

"I was thinking that the Doc could take the couch, it is close to the window looking over the parking space. And I could lay out a sleeping bag for Victor in the bedroom. It would make it easier for me to use my abilities to protect him from nightmares."

[identity profile] dee-lorean81.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"And I get the parking space?" Dee asks.

"Unless you want to work out some way of sleeping next to me," Doc says, looking at the couch and the floor next to it. "Or take my space on the couch."

"Oh, no, the parking lot's fine! I don't mind at all!" She really doesn't -- she likes her car form, and certainly doesn't mind spending time in it. Honestly, she feels slightly more comfortable in it -- despite her human form's advantages, it's still kind of strange for her.

"I suppose that's all all right then," Victor says. He feels slightly awkward about moving into April's sleeping space, but risking the King getting out (or hell, just having a particularly unpleasant nightmare) is much worse.

[identity profile] slayers-desire.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I have found the couch to be comfortable and roomy." Of course it has been a cuddle-favorite place for April and Clark.

She stands to place a supportive hand on Victor's shoulder. "I won't let the King do anything bad tonight. Promise."

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Good to know," Doc says with a smile. "We really appreciate this."

"Yes," Victor nods. "Thank you so very much."

(OOC: And bed for me now again)

[identity profile] slayers-desire.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"No problems. Anytime."

((ooc no problems. I think this is a good ending place anyway))

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Victor nods again. Looking around at his friends, he feels better about this whole situation. Hopefully the worst is over. In any case, he trusts in their ability to help him.

(OOC: Indeed. Thanks for making the entry. :))
