walking into the fire ((closed))

It was time to stop running. To stop hiding. To be strong in the face of adverse situations.

Leaving her apartment for the first time since staying the weekend with Clark, April had gone to the Nexus for advice and then on her way home picked up her monthly supply of blood. Her nerves were sensitive to the slightest sound or movement on her way back to the apartment. And for the first time in her life, the vampire felt like prey - and did not like the sensation.

She had made it to the hallway to her apartment, when something at her door made her freeze. Laying there innocently was a white rose. And remembering what effect those roses had on her April took several steps away from it.

Bumping right into the five Scourge that had come up from behind her. They moved for her quickly, and she had to allow the blood bags to drop to the floor to respond in defense. None of them broke, but they were going to be forgotten soon enough.

Five against one was unfair and there was only so much April could do. She had been able to deliver a couple of bloody noses and bruises to her attackers, before two of them had her pinned. A third channeled a spell to sedate her -- as chloroform wouldn't work against her vampiric abilities -- and it landed firmly.

As the world blackened around her, April saw the five of them surround her. They picked her up and carried her from the hallway, leaving the blood bags and the white rose in the hall. The only signs of the struggle that had occurred.
