Cipher Nine and Ed both show up almost immediately after receiving their invitations. Both recognize that things are pretty dire even if they are the only ones the Kents call for help—knowing that they aren't the only ones definitely ratchets things up in terms of urgency.

Upon arriving, Ed immediately greets April with a hug before he delves into some of the books she's got on hand while they wait for everyone else. Cipher Nine gives her a brief hug as well, then opts to to take a seat and do a little maintenance work on his knives while he waits, sharpening the edges and oiling the blades, among other things.
