Happy Birthday Jonathan ((open thread))

Every friend of either Clark or April are going to receive an invitation in their PINpoint, (or at their home, if they are based in the Smallville-universe).

It's Jonathan's First Birthday!
We would be honored to have you celebrate the first birthday of Jonathan Kent.

There is instructions on how to safely arrive at Clark and April's apartment. The apartment itself is decorated for a first birthday. There is a place for guests to sit, snacks, drinks and music in the background. Jonathan is in his best clothes too... which should last about two seconds.


((Jonathan's birthday is April 28th, so pretend this post takes place on that date))

Alice and company arrive outside Clark and April's door, dressed in some of their better outfits -- nothing fancy, just what seemed appropriate for a one-year-old's birthday party. They've also got some presents wrapped up -- some soft toys for Jonathan to play with. A bunny, a dog and a small dragon are all cuddling up together inside a big yellow box.

Once they've made sure they're all here and all presentable, Alice knocks politely on the door.

April answers the door. The dogs, Shelby and a new black golden-retriever puppy, named Ree is at her heels.

Jonathan looks up at the sound of the knock at the door. He is all smiles right now. Excited.

"Hi everyone!" April greets the guests.

"Hey April," Marty says, waving from behind Alice. "How's it going? Happy birthday to the little guy!"

"Seems like you've added to the family in another way too," Doc says, noticing Ree.

"This is Ree..." April introduces the new puppy, who is running around in circles excited. New guests! New smells!

"We just got her."

"She's adorable," Victor says, kneeling down and offering his hand to smell. "Hello, Ree!" Yes, it's easy to see who the biggest dog person in the group is.

Ree goes for the licking attack. She loves licking people. And so Victor has her full attention.

Shelby, the older dog, wags his tail from where he is sitting. Waiting.

Victor laughs as she licks his face all over. "Just like Scraps," he comments, petting her head.

Doc laughs too, but gives his attention to the old guard, gently scratching Shelby behind the ears. "Bet the new puppy really wears you out, hmmm?"

"Shelby keeps Ree in check. Is teaching her to be a really good dog." April gestures for them to enter into the apartment further. Right into the living room.

"That's good," Victor says, reaching over to give Shelby a bit of love too. "I'm sure they get along famously."

The gang enters the living room, looking around at all the party stuff. "You did a lovely job here," Victor compliments April.

"Hi!" That comes from the little boy, who is turning one today.

"Thank you. We have really made this our home."

"Hi!" Dee says, waving back to him. "Happy birthday!"

"Yes, that's clear," Doc agrees. "It definitely feels like a home."

It feels like just yesterday, Jonathan was a newborn in her arms, and now he's basically halfway to Toddlerville. Victor's brought the family. The girls, in matching green jumpers with their hair in braided pigtails, Jude fussing with the bow on their present to make sure it's just perfect for the baby.

The sight of more kids will definitely excited Jonathan. And the new puppy. Who is running in circles around the girls and Jude.

"Hi everyone! Come on in."

"It is different living here, compared to the farm." April sits down, making herself ocmfortable. "But it is a good compromise."

Marty nods, taking a seat as well. "Yeah, I bet it is. But you guys seem to be doing all right for yourselves." He looks around for the third human member of the family. "Where's Clark?"

"Just finishing up at work."

Jonathan points to the window. "Dede dede!"

That sparks a round of chuckles. "Looks like somebody's already got a feel for at least part of what Daddy does at work."

"Jonathan's first word was Superman." April chuckled.

"Really?" Alice giggles behind her hand. "That must have been interesting to hear for the first time."

Ed turns up with a present under his left arm wrapped in red paper and tied with a gold ribbon, grinning like a fool. As per usual, he knocks on the door with his right hand, a distinctive sound of steel against wood that might give the guests that have already arrived and who haven't met him a WTF moment. That's just his way of announcing himself.

"S'man!" Jonathan exclaims, pointing to the window. He is old enough to know what his daddy does, and who he is.

There are a few guests already arrived (and muns can interact), when April opens the door. Jonathan greets him with the familiar, "Ed!"

That gets a little more laughter. "Yes, that's right," Alice nods, then glances toward the window. Is Clark really out there, or is Jonathan just telling them where Superman's usually seen?

"Heya buddy!" Ed says, still grinning, greeting his godson with the usual peck on the forehead. "Happy birthday!" April gets a hug, too, and he also passes her the present under his arm.

Victor sort of keeps stepping away from the puppy, the way she usually reacts to animals in her vicinity, but the girls are delighted, and they both crouch down to be on puppy-level.
