"First you make Victor relive something this horrible, and then you make Clark go through it too?!" He wouldn't wish this kind of torment on his most bitter enemies, much less on someone he respects and cares about.
He's been trying not to listen, either, but he does take note of the abrupt change in J's behaviour. It doesn't do much to quell his anger—now aimed at Dru, rather than J—and he still doesn't turn to see what's going on. He just hopes that Clark can take the opportunity that's arisen with this development and get to the door.
