Clark feels a sudden, irrational surge of anger towards Ed when he sees him. He was supposed to protect her. And that anger wars with the knowledge that there was nothing Ed could've done. Clark was supposed to protect her too... and he couldn't do that.

He forces it down, even though he still feels like his heart is bleeding. "Let's get out of here before we lose anyone else."
