Clark does a little bit of last-minute fussing with Raya, making sure that yes, she can handle Kara while they're out, and she knows how to use the phone if there's a problem, and that they have his PINpoint number. And to remember to feed Shelby, and to milk the cows, and...

He finally pulls himself away and grabs his own suitcase - more of a backpack, really, something he can strap to his back and keep his hands free. And it only messes with the aerodynamics a little when he zooms to April's apartment to pick her up.

Hearing that familiar sonic boom before Clark arrived, April opened the window for him. She couldn't help smiling. She just was so happy.

All the problems of the last year seemed to have disappeared for the moment.

He appears in the window, smiling at her. "Hey. You about ready to go?" He's pretty excited about this trip too. There are no pressing issues demanding his attention, and no alien threats. Sure, things aren't perfect all around, but he can finally relax. Something he hasn't gotten to do for close to a year now.

"Just checking my passport." April chuckled. She hopes that they don't have too much luggage for him (her having more than him). "I got two suitcases. Is it over my limit?"

"No, but we'll have to charge you extra," he jokes, landing inside the apartment to see what she has. If they aren't too big, and can be attached together, it shouldn't be a problem.

The luggage pieces are those combo pieces that fit together nicely, one smaller than the other. "Darn, I was so hoping to get through security quickly."

He briefly debates saying a line about needing to strip-search her for safety and security reasons, but decides that they might never even get where they're going if he does. But it's a good sign that this part of him is returning. "It won't be quite as comfortable of a ride, but definitely doable. And it's a short flight."

"Good. I tried to pack as lightly as possible, but with three different locations somethings were needed."

Then she realizes something. "I am such a silly girl sometimes. I could set up a PINpoint coordinate here, and just get the luggage to us when we land."

He actually laughs at that, briefly, but still a laugh. "So what you're saying is that you should've checked your baggage instead of making them carry-ons. Hopefully they'll arrive at your same destination."

"It would be difficult if they got sent to another location, I wouldn't have a thing to wear." The airplane jokes continue, as April uses her PINpoint to set up a small area where she can later fetch her luggage.

He takes off his backpack-suitcase and sets it with hers. "This way if the 'cargo plane' gets lost, we're both in the same boat." Ah, mixing metaphors. Oh well.

"It will make flying smoother, with less air turbelence."

"I got the PINpoint coordinates ready, so we can take off any time."

"Okay." He pulls her into his arms, just glad to be holding her for right now, never mind the flight out. "I'm thinking beach first. How about you?"

"That sounds like a good way to start the vacation." Of course April also enjoys the flight. Holding close to him.

He's done his research, and found them a nice little private island in the Caribbean, with sandy shores, and grassy fields further inland. They're alone on the island except for some small animals, who have little fear of humans, having rarely seen them before.

He lands on the white expanse of the beach, setting her down on her feet. "What do you think?"

"Oh this is perfect." She can't sense any other humans, which gives her a nice little added break.

Using her PINpoint, she brings their luggage. One of the things she had added was a pop-up tent that is easy to set up, and for them to sleep in.

"Let's set up camp and go for a swim," he suggests. "That way we don't have to worry if the tide comes in."

Selecting an area closer to the grassy fields, April takes out the tent, flips it up into the air, and it comes down perfectly in formation. Just like it was designed to.

"You will be in charge of the fire later." She laughes. All is left is to ensure the tent is firmly secured to the ground.

He smiles at the tent setting itself up properly. "Nice trick." He takes the stakes and pushes them in, securing it from blowing away or falling over. The ground is firmer here than on the beach, but he doesn't need a hammer.

"There's some trees a bit further inland that we can harvest firewood from later."

"We should find some rocks to make the fire ring, and ensure we leave the area as untouched as we found it."

April hopes that some of the animals will approach. It is not often one sees such wild life, especially living on an university campus.

"I totally agree. We can probably move some of the sand up too, to put underneath so we don't scorch the grass. And so we have some to put the fire out if we need to." He could, of course, put it out by hand, but safety first.

"Do you want to do that, while I find some rocks?" His x-ray vision will help him find suitable stones much more easily than searching with the naked eye, as there are very few stones here.

Nodding to his statement, April is enjoying the teamwork of setting up camp. She uses a small piece of cloth to pile on a suitable amount of sand, placing half of it about 20 paces away from the tent. And the other half of sand is wrapped and kept for later to extinguish the fire.

Clark uses his jacket to carry the rocks that he finds, bundled up in the fabric so that he can carry them all at once. And he comes back with a good selection of moderately sized stones, enough for a decent sized fire ring.

He could do this at superspeed, but it's a vacation. Time to relax. No need to rush around, nothing that they have to do. It's an almost alien feeling these days.

"I have selected this spot for the fire," April gestures to the sand placed, ready for the stones. "It is far enough from the tent, but far enough away from the coastline and from any foliage."

"And looks like it's going to be downwind," he agrees, and gives her a kiss on the cheek. "Good job."

"Have you ever been camping before?" he asks as he arranges the rocks.
