a simple birthday celebration
It was Clark's 20th birthday. The third birthday that April was able to celebrate with him. And a simple little celebration had been planned. Not as big as his 18th had been... by inviting a whole lot of friends. But something a little more fun than his 19th, which had been downplayed mostly because it occurred right after Jonathan's death.
April invited only Clark's closest friends, Chloe, Lois, Lana, even Oliver and some of the other Justice Leaguers (if they were able to make it, if not it would be understood). And planned for a barbecue for the small gathering.
And of course, no surprise this time. Clark was under enough stress, April didn't want to make him feel uncertain about the celebration, and watching over his shoulder.
After all... it should be a low-key birthday after all.
