shopping fun that leads to LOLs

It was a nice day, and April had some extra cash in her pocket. So she went into the Nexus to do some shopping in some of the discount stores. Picking up fabric for the clothing that she was working on, finding new designs that inspired her, and buying small trickets here and there.

Searching the discount racks, April found a beautiful dress that would fit her perfectly. It had the right colors, and had a perfect price. Buying it, she didn't notice the small smirk from the saleperson as she left the dress shop.

Deciding to make the most of the buy, April went home and changed into her new dress. And then picked up the phone to invite Clark out for a date. The dress felt so light and natural... she never even noticed how it didn't exist in the first place.

It's been a while since they've gone on a date, at least since before Zod showed up, but Clark figures that being spontaneous and taking advantage of the opportunities they find is a good thing. So he arrives at her apartment shortly thereafter, letting himself in when he gets there.

Applying the last of her make-up, April hears Clark enter her apartment. She slips into her heels, and then enters the living room.

"Like my new dress?" She asks. Of course, Clark won't see a dress. The LOL is affecting April in quite an interesting manner.

Clark looks at her and very, very quickly moves his eyes back up. "Uh. I don't think you can go out like that."

"What dress?" He has no idea what's going on, except that apparently April's planning to go out wearing heels and a smile. "Are you okay?"

"The new dress I bought today." April smoothed out the skirt of the dress, and to Clark it would seem like she was just touching her upper leg.

Okay, now he's concerned, because she's seeing things that aren't there. "You're... not wearing a dress."

April paused because Clark wouldn't lie to her. But she could still see the dress fabric on her. Something didn't make sense.

"Are you sure?"

"Uh. Yeah." He's bewildered that she thinks she's wearing something when she very clearly isn't. And his mind is open to her, to see what she looks like through his own eyes right now. "Not that I mind seeing you like this, but going out in public..."

April turns seven shades of red seeing Clark's honest viewpoint of her. Standing there naked in heels. "Oh!"

It makes the LOL ineffective, and she can see it truly herself. And she backs up slightly. "Oh! This isn't..." She just doesn't have the words.

He finds the blanket they keep over the back of her couch and wraps it around her. "Enchanted, or... where'd you buy this 'dress'?"

"In the Nexus." April sighs. Still feeling very embarassed. "Do you think it was a LOL?"

"I think it has to be. It makes sense." He smiles a little. "We're so used to thinking of it as a safe place."

"Or even worse, if the LOL is on you instead of your clothes." The blanket seems to be holding up, but maybe it's just because it's not technically clothing. "Maybe we should just get some takeout while we go through your purchases and make sure there's nothing waiting to surprise us again?"

"Takeout is good." April wouldn't know what to do if everything she tried to wear suddenly disappeared, leaving her naked. Securing the blanket, she retrieved the bag with her other purchases.

He nods, glad beyond words that they decided to meet at her place instead of at a restaurant somewhere. "How does Chinese sound?"

"It sounds good." April is also relieved that only Clark saw her in such a state. And he handled the situation like a gentleman.

"I see everything in my bag. But that means nothing I suppose..."

"Okay. I'll be right back." He zips off to get them a light dinner, giving her time to put on some clothes that actually show up as well.

April took the time to go into her bedroom, and selected a dress (http://www.promdresspicture.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/long-cocktail-dress4.jpg) that wasn't bought in the Nexus. Hopefully it would stay on her this time.

A part of her wondered about something, about the dress she took off that still seemed to be there. She studied the fabric closely. Curious about it.

Clark returns a few minutes later with some white paper takeout cartons, and relaxes slightly when he sees her wearing clothes again. They've long since passed the stage of being embarrassed at being naked together, but it's still a very private sort of sharing, and it would be awkward at best if she was LOLed into having invisible clothes all the time.

"Must've been the dress?"

"You can see the one I am wearing. Good. Then it must be just this one." April holds out the Nexus dress, which she doubts Clark will see.

He can see from the way that her hands are positioned that she should be holding something, but he doesn't see anything, even with x-ray vision. "I was really worried for a minute there," he confesses. "Seeing things that aren't there isn't usually a good sign."

"You must of thought I had been under a spell again." April can appreciate his concern for her. She looks back down at the Nexus dress, "I think I can still use this fabric. For a more suitable dress."

"Only if you want parts of it to still be invisible," he says, reaching out to see if he can touch whatever she's holding. "I still don't see anything. Unless there's some way to remove a LOL?"
