finding a good code name

It had been recently been suggested to April that she required a code name. Something that would allow her to work alongside 'Superman' when Clark got to that point -- without them worrying about her identity being revealed.

Her first thought had been Tiresias. A lovely reference to a Greek seer who had very accurate visions, was blind, and had been given seven lifespans. He had also spent seven years as a female, according to legend.

The only difficulty with Tiresias was that it was difficult to pronounce. And really... what kind of symbol would one use? Superman had the S. Batman had the bat. Would Tiresias be a T?

And April's own visions whispered to her that it was not quite right.

So she spent some time thinking about it, and researching legends and stories about vampires and oracles in the Villa library. It was in the Celtic section that she eventually found herself. Something almost called her there -- especially as Clark and her had used the symbol of the tree to get them through some very dark times. And she spend hours reading about the Tree Language, and studying the beautiful runes of the Celtic writing.

When she was done, a small book fell at her feet, landing open. Kneeling to pick it up, April was curious to discover it was one of those books that detailed the meaning of names. And glancing over the page to which it had fell open too... one name jumped out at her.

Darrah.
Dark Oak.

April felt a connection to the name. One much stronger that Tiresias. And she finally found something that spoke on a personal level that could be used to fight crime. It was a beautiful reference and one that even her vampire side could appreciate and respect. And April felt happy about finding it.
